I caught a peak at the new 2006-2007 media guide.

The heading of the page is in fact MARQUETTE RETIRED JERSEYS and states that Marquette honors it's athletes by retiring their jersey.  It doesn't go into anything further but keep in mind the media guide was published before the whole GT situation occured.
