1. Marquette is being quite transparent lately. The Golden Eagles didn't hesitate to suspend coach Buzz Williams for a Big East game for a violation committed by assistant Scott Monarch, who was subsequently fired. The latest from the Golden Eagles is this: Todd Mayo has rendered himself academically ineligible indefinitely. When asked what that means, a Marquette official said just what it says. Mayo did this to himself. Marquette isn't afraid now to call out who is at fault. There are no excuses at Marquette.

What does this even mean?  "Todd Mayo has rendered himself academically ineligible."  And "Mayo did this to himself."  As in Todd Mayo was the one who made the decision to suspend himself indefinitely for his grades (or the basketball program is forcing him to suspend himself)?  Meaning that it was not necessarily academically ineligible by NCAA standards, and if he (and the program) chose, he could become eligible whenever he wants?  Or are they just pointing out the only person at fault here is Todd and he is the one who is responsible for this?  If so, isn't that really the only possibility?  I mean, who else would be responsible for him struggling in the classroom?

I'm confused...

Anyways, the last two sentences are pointless.  Who else would be at fault besides Mayo himself?  Are you going to blame Buzz Williams for Todd Mayo not producing in the classroom?  Or MAYBEEEE Andy Katz knows that Larry Williams is really behind all of this and Todd is just taking the fall for him.  SLU, here we come!

Buzz at the luncheon said "It's not my call.  It is not Marquette's call.  It is an NCAA issue."

Can we stop the LW crap now...

You really need teal for every piece of sarcasm?  Well, you do live in Madison...

Looks like my stock in Reynolds Wrap is on the rise again.

at the b&g tip off luncheon, buzz said it was the NCAA that has suspended todd. not the univeristy...or todd himself.

doubtful todd will ever play another for MU. out of chances....and the team needs to move on.

Best line of the whole article. As an old Warrior, I have only one response.

Da*n straight there's no excuses!

Excuses don't get you in the NCAA Tournament. Excuses don't win national championships. Excuses about classroom performance don't get students jobs after college either! Here's hoping Todd pulls through and we see him in January.
