Do you know what LW's "way" is and that he wants us to become Northwestern?

I say do it, if it gets MU in the Big Ten.  Doubt that will happen though......

Becoming Northwestern wouldn't involve forfeiting all MU's NCAA appearances would it?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

LW way is for us to become a mediocre team loaded with traditionals like SLU or NU.  That way nothing bad would come from the team that would embarrass the university.

Not this crap again - really how do you know what LW's way is?

You should have used teal here.

Yeah and the word Hiroshima has never been used here.

I applaud NU. Took balls to suspend a main dude for the season, particularly when Carmody is on the hotseat and the team is close to dancin' for the first time.
It goes without sayin', but I'll say it anyway, MU and NU have different spots on the university/academic/athletics foodchain. Nothin' wrong with that, but they are as different as night and day.
Suffice it to say, both have an identity and serve it well. To propose that one university could suddenly morph into the other, is absolutely absurd. Please reference US News.

of course I'd be in.  Enjoyed seeing this weeks teams trotted onto the field after end of the first quarter:  B1g ten champion men's soccer team (got their rings), #8 in the nation women's fencing team, #3 in the nation academically women's swimming team.  Last week was #1 in nation women's lacrosse (for the 7th time) and can't remember who else.  Always very impressive.  Then back to the undefeated football team.  I hope Larry doesn't do that to us!!!

Nice job of redefining what NU in basketball means.   I've should have known this thread will be hijacked in this matter.

So let me try again ...

All summer we have been worn out with talk of LW unhappy with all the off-court issues and that he was looking to "downgrade" to something all the lines of SLU or even NU.  That is, a team loaded with traditionals that presumably has no off-court embarrassments.  The story in the first post shows that even NU has its serious off-court issues.  So becoming SLU/NU is no guarantee that off-court issues go away.

Finally, remember that NU has never made the NCAA tourney, as in ever (as Taylor Swift would say).  Occasionally they get blown out in the early rounds of the NIT and most of the team they do not even make that.

Still want to be NU in basketball?

The problem with your entire premise is the assumption that LW wants MU to be NU in basketball.

Not my premise, the premise of this board.  I recall a record smashing 2500 post thread on this subject last June.

No to mention David Schwimmer has an alum!

Since you read that on the Internet, it's probably true.

Meh... why would anyone want David Schwimmer when you already have Danny Pudi and Rondell Sheridan?

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.
