You know what helps with perception issues, accountable beat writers who get scoops regularly and are allowed to disclose more info than the AD or the athletic department.

I know we bag on Sleepy Tom enough, but why didn't he have the SMU story? Why didn't he have the violations scoop? Why hasn't he said a word about Mayo since the initial story, which he was about 4 days late on originally?

Having a good relationship with a reporter works wonders for an athletic department. You think Rosiak would have been scooped by Walker? Ha. As a little comparison, Enlund/Walker wrote 4 stories in July this year for a total of 1,104 words. Back in July 2010, Rosiak wrote 3 stories totaling 5,819 words.

As Bama so accurately pointed though, MU doesn't have enough leverage to even get a real, competent beat writer, let alone one willing to play the game.
