What is the Rob Frozena "We Are Marquette" award about?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

It's gotta be the player with least amount of team spirit.

Doing the most for the Marquette community and best representing Marquette. Jamil was a no-brainer for it.

Any way we could get definitions for what some of these awards actually are?

List is hilarious.  Check out today's "Doonesbury" comic strip.  So true.

I was laughing about today's Doonesbury and thinking about my kids trophies.

Sportsmanship
Legacy of Leadership
Standard of Academic excellence
Rebounding effort
Create for others
Sixth man
Most improved
Defensive player of the year
Performance in a supporting role

Wes Matthews "Just today": Wes always preached getting better every day, 1 percent. Clearly Otule working back from his torn ACL made him a shoo-in.
Lazar Hayward "Everyday tough": The team's theme that year was about grinding it out and being tough, and actually when Lazar won this award two years ago, he brought Cadougan onto the stage to accept the award with him. Cadougan had come back early from his torn Achilles', so it was fitting he would win it this year.
Rob Frozena "We Are Marquette": The player who best represented Marquette in the community. Jamil, as seen by the CNN piece, was an excellent winner.
Joe Fulce "Where do you live": One of Buzz's favorite awards, based on Fulce's three signed national letters of intent and basically following Buzz around the country until he landed at Marquette. Obviously with Derrick being born overseas, living in Alaska, going to school in Connecticut and then coming to Marquette was pretty special.
Jimmy Butler "Only now exists": Jimmy came up with the theme of two years ago, not looking at yesterday's performance or tomorrow's expectations. Essentially, living in the present. Davante seems like a good candidate as someone who doesn't get caught up in the hype or worry about his past failures.
Darius Johnson-Odom "Sacrifice for the string": The team's theme this year, and Buzz talked about DJO taking somewhat of a backseat during Jae's special year, but never once letting down in game situations.

Hope that cleared some of the awards up.
