Jimmy Mc and the jags at 1250 yesterday
« on: March 29, 2012, 12:51:41 PM »
Anyone catch his interview on 1250 yesterday? I won't go and listen to it.

I turned the station on briefly just because I wanted to make myself mad and see if they were talking MU. I've listened 30 seconds since they became the TMZ vs MU last week.

Anyway, I missed Mc's interview but heard contrarian jag off Sparky say that Buzz won't be around next season and that Buzz didn't literally say he wasn't leaving in the letter.

Then...the topper. Their opinion was that by putting out a joint statement from Coach Buzz and AD Williams, AD Williams was actually trying to quell the demands of big boosters who want Buzz fired.

WTF are they talking about over there? They mentioned the school needed to change its image from sexual assault allegations and "bustin beer bottles over peoples heads...allegedly" when I shut it off.

Dear lord does Milwaukee need/deserve better sports talk hosts. Josh on 1250 is the only one that's semi-good. All of the other local guys are 1250 and 540? It's friggin' Amateur Hour.

Saw it on twitter and I was actually kind of disappointed in Mac for going on there.... Hope they paid him.

Disappointed that Mac was on there as well. They have been beating the anti MU drum for two weeks now. will say I am equally disappointed in 540 ESPN because they seldom give MU any air time. On Tuesday I listened to Homer for an hour and actually switched to 1250 to see if they had Buzz update. Sadly to say they did and mainly negative MU talk.

With two competing sports radio stations in such a small market, they sort of have to follow each other a little bit. And, the negative stuff "sells" more than the positive. If 540 doesn't at least broach it (the negative), they'd be considered a homer (no pun intended). But...they don't break out the dorkapalooza that is Wickett and unlistenable jagoff Sparky to just constantly make up stuff. I'm sure Homer's co-host "brought the thunder" and made every comment sound like some ALL IMPORTANT STATEMENT and he was REALLY FUNNY and WITTY!

Question - has the Little Unit unleashed his big report on his investigation yet?

I sense that the 'big boosters' believe that things needed to be reigned in a bit on campus both with respect to the basketball team and the overall student body. They also believe that Buzz is more a part of the solution than part of the problem.  I feel confident that if Fr. Pilarz or Larry Williams believed otherwise, Buzz would be somewhere else.  Crap journalism.

The more I hear about this kind is stuff, the more I think Milwaukee sports media is just kind of trying too hard.

Over the last week I couldn't help but think of the various scrubs on sports radio in Chicago, and have been thinking to myself that if the 2nd rate sports radio slobs in Chicago are this pathetic, a couple of fourth rate goobers from Milwaukee must really be something.  In my mind I've been picturing a couple of goofy looking child molestors from Fon de Lac.  Well curiosity finally got the best of me, so I googled these clowns.  This mutant Wickett looks kind of "special," so in the event that he is challenged in some way I offer a preemptive apology.  It seems pretty likely that this gimp-@ss is locked in a box in a basement at this broke-d*ck radio station and kept on a leash when they bring him out and take the gag out of his mouth for this sorry show.  When I saw his picture, I immediately assumed he was the lackey they call "sparky."  If Wickett is the botched-abortion running the show, and the sex-offender they call chuck is his running mate,  I don't even want to research further into how pitiful this sparky guy must be.

I agree. For being our flagship, we certainly don't get enough pub over there. Somebody has to have MU's back. It seems as though we're a non-entity on 540 and with Homer unless they are promoting a broadcast.

You are missing out on the mother of all jags - Sparky. Seriously. Once I saw him, I disliked him even more because now I can put a "big-head-on-little-guy, chip-on-his-shoulder" appearance to his annoying mouth. What do you expect from someone that learned from Homer and constantly draws the short-straw in the three-person-sports-radio-show-topic-take pile.

Like I said, only Josh deserves a bigger audience/city.

I guess the point is...stop listening to sports radio.

For all the pissing and moaning about students and how cheap MU games are, why are you fools (I mean that in the nicest way possible) not forking over the $12/month for Sirius or XM?

I've had it since 2007 and I will never go back to FM/AM radio.  Ever.

Couldn't agree more.  Will never listen to commercial radio again.  At least for as long as Sirius is able to stay in business  ;D

That's an interesting thought... I drive about 120 miles a day and flip between crap, crap, and crap. Mike & Mike is impossible to listen to, Dan Patrick isn't bad, Green & Gold today is nice, but they don't have anything to talk about now.  Aren't they the same thing now (XM/Sirius)? Do they give away the radios anywhere? I like the score, but B&B can get kind of painful. I like Lawrence Holmes....he throws in some Depaul misery too which is nice.

I'm actually glad he went on there.

The problem with 1250 is 2 things:

#1 They like to be controversial because it helps provide "content". Say some mildly crappy things about (insert sports topic/personality) and then take calls. Easy way to fill a segment or two

#2 (and this is the bigger problem imo) They aren't experts on every sports topic, and they fail to get/use sources who are. Their coverage of MU is bad. But, it would have been easy to get IWB or somebody to come on and at least provide an educated opinion. In fact, they could probably get a weekly "MU expert" for nothing and they would provide much better content. But, it doesn't seem to bother them that they shoot from the hip (and are subsequently are wrong) about a lot of topics.

It's much easier to rant and rave about something if you don't present all the pertinent information. As they say, never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Is that a shot at Sparky's bowling show? Or his NASCAR show? Or his badminton show?

Agreed.  I don't miss regular radio at all.  I'll listen to 540 once in a while for Homer.  Get XM for cheap, and before it comes up for renewal google what deals are out there... generally about 85 bucks a year is what I pay, with taxes and royalty fees; every year it is the same deal - you call and say the deal that you want, they say we don't have it, you get the cancelation department and they give you the deal.

Well worth it.  I have not heard Sykes or Belling in over 3 years.  Love it.

You're 100% correct, and maybe the "stories" make for better ratings.

It's just too bad though, because it would be pretty easy to do a decent MU segment each week. I know MU isn't a huge draw in the state, but it would be nice if they provided at least some content on MU or even UWM. Maybe a 1 hour college hoops segment with an "expert" from UW, MU, UWM and/or GB?

MU will always be low in the pecking order, but they could at least be accurate/intelligent. The only time they talk about MU now is usually with broad brush strokes with some undertones that come off as dismissive.

I didn't know anyone listened to it to begin with.  I'd much prefer some tunes to a bunch of uneducated rednecks taking about sports.

Absolutely. I'll put up with Bulls, Cubs, and Bears talk before I'll listen to the idiots in Milwaukee.

Plus, the SCORE has more positive talk about MU than either Milwaukee station.

OK, enough ranting about the hosts.  They suck donkey.  No one listens to them, which is why someone raised this topic.  Did anyone listen to Mac?  I know its a long shot, but if anyone did, what did he say?

I enjoy my Iphone.  The company pays for it and I can listen to whatever sports talk I want to.   That's my version of satellite radio.
