Its kind of funny that they are using the last two games as an indication of improved defense. In the first one they are playing a Virginia team that is #128 in the nation offensively (KenPom) and #339 in adjusted tempo. In the second they played Norfolk State, #226 offensively and #100 in tempo. Those will tend to lead towards some lower point totals.

Meanwhile, Marquette is #29 offensively and #15 in tempo.

Is there any correalation to the success rate of our transition game when playing a team that takes a higher percentage of 3s?  I would think the long rebounds would lead to more opportunities for run outs, but I am often wrong.... Just curious if that's something you could even analyze.

I don't know if it does.  This year I have seen MU transition on good teams off of steals, missed shots and made shots.  I have been surprised with the way they transition this year - awfully fun to watch!

Was looking at Pomeroy and was very surprised to see the Gators ranked 220th in tempo this year.  They were even slower last year.  Funny, they seem to like to run but the statistics are not in their favor if they do.

Transition defense for the Gators appears to be the key to the game.  They are going to get their points.  They have a good offense.  However, limiting Marquette's easy transition baskets appears to be the key.

If you look at Florida's 10 losses all of them were giving up 74+ points with the exception of Syracuse and Tennessee (Cuse had 72 and Tenn 67).

Vander may be one of the keys to this game.  It seems like games where we have transitioned well Vander has had a good game.
