Just noticed a commercial for the selection show.  Looks like might be 2 hours, spread out over two channels.  Anyone know what the extra hour will cover on TruTV?

One of the shows, I believe on ESPN is actually going to display the rankings from 1 to 65 this year.  First time ever.

Jeff Hathaway, head of the Selection Committee, just said that the 37 at-large teams have already been selected  :-\ Likely bad news for teams like Ole Miss and NC State that were hoping to play their way in today. Seems like poor form on behalf of the Selection Committee to have all the picks done with 2 days to go. Lots of basketball still to be played.

Yeah, I thought that was a strange comment.  You can't pick the at-large until you know who is the automatic qualifier.  He followed it up with they had those that would replace the 37 if they become an automatic qualifier.  When I heard that, I wondered if that meant they ranked the teams.  With the top 37 I suspect, as an example, that includes Duke, UNC and FSU.  All three still alive for the automatic qualifier.  Whoever wins the ACC Tournament would be replaced by the next at-large.  Those above 37 would still be fluid.

Anything said by someone on the committee is bullshit! The whole committee is stupid because members have affiliations with schools and conferences. It's all about money
Q: What's the difference between Bo Ryan and God?
A: God doesn't think he's Bo Ryan!!

As I think about this more, I believe I am correct in my understanding of what he meant.  The committee only determined the top 37 and called them "at-large".  They remain an at-large until they become an automatic qualifier by winning their conference tournament.  Then some other team replaces them on the list of 37.

The Committee would not assume a conference automatic qualifier.

I heard that theory, and really hope it's correct. Because if a team like Ole Miss is playing for nothing at this point, that's just not right.

Unless there's no one left playing that isn't already in the tournament.

I think you are right.  The NCAA version of the S curve will be revealed.

Based on the media mock selection process, Hathaway had to mean that they have a 37 team "definitely in" list. It's not in any particular order yet, which is what they'll start doing when they reconvene.

I'm really curious how much the Atlantic 10 title game is going to affect things.

That A-10 title game is certainly the most important game being played today. I have to imagine Xavier is in no matter what at this point, the only question is if the Bonnies join them. And who loses out if that happens.

Looking at the S-Curve, the bracket really goes to crap once you get down around the 11-line. Seems like almost every team in the last 7-8 at-larges is undeserving, but someone has to get in.

Where will the team be during the Selection show? The last few years, they've been in crappy settings.

Is the Annex considered private? Where else would they go? Weird  :-\

Is there a web site someone can recommend that updates the brackets in real time as each selection is announced?
