Joe Lunardi's Bracket
« on: March 07, 2012, 09:38:48 AM »
As of yesterday, March 6th this is Joe Lunardi's bracket.

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology

There is still much to occur but Marquette could not get a worse bracket than this one. Belmont is the one team I don't want to face as a #14 seed, Murray State as a #6 seed and we would meet in the second round. Also North Carolina as the one, yikes.

Its early but in past seasons we have entered the tourney with a bit of a chip on our shoulder being a #5 seed and most prognosticators picking the #12 seed to beat us whether it was Xavier or Utah St.

Who as the current #6 seeds, per Joes bracket would we want to have a possible 2nd round match-up with?

We haven't been a #5 seed since 2002, and Xavier was the #6 last year while we were the #11 people picked for the upset over Xavier.

With the current #6 seeds Lunardi has, Vandy would be the one I would least like to see (for obvious reasons) but I doubt we would face them that early seeing as we already played this year.  ND likewise probably wouldn't be in our bracket, but they are the team I would least like to see after Vandy although I think we handle them fairly easily with Davante on a neutral court.  The other #6's Murray St. and St. Mary's I think we would run out of the gym.

Regardless, we won't have to worry about #6 seeds after we take the Big East tournament championship and get the #2 seed out West.  No current #7 seed is scary at all.

I've pretty much resigned myself to the nearly certain possibility that MU will be the 2-seed in Phoenix or the 3-seed in St. Louis.  Either way, each path has advantages and disadvantages.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

I will say that a match-up with Mississippi St. scares me. Moultrie and Sidney are both over 6'10"...I think that might be the worst match-up possible.

Agreed. That'd suck. I don't think that is a huge concern, however as I doubt they get an 11 seed and definitely won't be a 6. They could be a 10, however, if we sneak into the last 2 seed.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.
