Well, I'm still not sure that was more than an aberration, but I really, really hope he has turned the corner.

I don't think expecting 8 and 3 in 19 minutes from Jones on a nightly basis would be wise, and I don't think I said that in the piece, but you can't underestimate what little strings of confidence put together can do for a kid, especially one that doesn't play a ton.

I don't think he's turned the corner but he stepped up today and did it when Marquette NEEDED it If he doesn't man up, ND scores inside and out. Didn't result in a W, but it was great so finally see something from him.

His performance was very nice.   If everyone else had played with the same energy, the outcome may have been different.    Good job, JJones.

Jones' dunk is exactly what this team has been missing.  Since Otule went out, I think I can count on one hand how many dunks we've had from the post.  Devante is starting to get some elevation that has resulted in a few dunks (who knew De-De could jump over a book of matches?!?) and Jae had one at home recently.

Don't underestimate what a dunk in the half-court can do to energize the crowd/fellow teammates.  Honestly, I've been shocked and disappointed that we haven't seen more throwdowns from Wilson.

I was going nuts at the Joyce when Jamail threw that dunk down.  I now want more.

I was ready to write Jone off as a one dribble, shoot miss type of player.  He showed a lot more game against ND.  Would like to see more of him.

Didn't get a chance to watch the game. How did his shooting look? or was everything from close-up? If we could get Blue, Wilson and Jones to knock down those 12-18ft jumpers, this team could help mitigate the lack of a post presence.

He missed his only jump shot.  Everything was a lay-up.  But Vander knocked down a mid-range jumper.

His three was halfway down and then out, so it wasn't a bad shot per se...

Agree witht he first paragraph - getting these sort of minutes in a "you have to step up" fashion and being able to deliver must be a huge confidence boost, not to mention it was one of the first things Buzz pointed out to the team in the locker room and the media.

Isn't the second paragraph contradictory to your first, though? Maybe depends on how one defines "turning a corner" but I'd venture a guess this confidence booster does a ton to get him over the hump and he starts playing more aggressively. Maybe I've turned the corner and won't be so nervous when he's in the game. It really is great to see something from him, hopefully much more to come.

Yep.  I thought the shot was in and would get him going.  If he can give good, active minutes like Saturday, that will help a great deal down the stretch.
