Who are Marquette's Go-To Scorers?

My argument is we have three go-to scorers: DJO, Crowder, and a committee for the third person between Mayo, Gardner, and Wilson.  I'd love to hear some thoughts on whether you agree or disagree.

Go-to scorers, in my mind, are guys that you give the ball to specifically with the idea that they're going to get a basket on that possession. I'd say DJO and Crowder are our two go-to guys, the guys we count on consistently, but I'd have to put Gardner in there too. There are stretches where it's clear that the goal is to feed him down low and get the basket and foul.

Mayo and Wilson, for me, just aren't go-to scorers. They can both score, but we rarely count on them the way we do DJO, Crowder, and Gardner. I suspect that they will, however, become go-to guys next year when DJO and Crowder graduate.

Our go to guy is DJO, and I would say the number 2 go to guy for a score is Gardner.  When we really need a bucket and he is in the game, we like to make sure he gets the ball down low to score or pass for a bucket.  I think Mayo is 3rd.  Crowder gets his points in the flow of the game, usually catch and shoot under the basket or at the 3 line.  Different than a guy that you give the ball to and say "get us a basket."

I disagree on DJO. A go to scorer is the guy you want to take the shot at the end of the game. DJO is a streak shooter and has hit key baskets in the past. However, if we need a game winning basket I go with Crowder or Davante down low. Besides the ability to create and make a pressure shot, the go to guy needs to be able to make the free throws if fouled. DJO misses free throws at end of game to often. I rather have Gardner or Crowder at the line. They are mentally tougher players. I would put Mayo ahead of DJO also.

+1.  When we have to have a bucket I do not think of J Wilson.  Hopefully, that changes and he becomes that go-to guy.
