Hey moderators, think there would be any traction to adding a separate posting category for recruit talk.- ie current season posts separated from the future stuff. Just an idea

It was tried a year or two ago and it didn't go great.  Recruiting stuff still ended up in here and the recruiting forum was just 2 dudes circlejerking.

Durley still listed as #64 at center.   Not bad for a bench sitter.   I don't expect an instant impact from him, but I do like the building blocks there.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

I dont care if he was the 200th best center, he has HEIGHT which we desparately need.

The player standing up is Cam Ridley 6-10 245 to give you some perspective.

Apparently, Durley has already discovered the weight room.    Nice guns for an 18 year old.

Taylor is probably 3rd if you include Parker and Okafor, but he is the best 2012 by a longshot.

Taylor is the best '12 by a longshot because the rest of that class does not have any high major players.

In '13 you have Parker, Nunn, and assuming a healthy Hamilton return all top 25/30 prospects.
In '14 you have Okafor, Alexander, and a few others who will be rated highly when it all shakes out...like top 25 rated.

Saying Taylor is the best player in Illinois may set unfair expectations with fans IMO.  That being said, he is going to be really good for us...just not Derrick Rose/Anthony Davis good.

I  SURE hope nobody is totally going to use this somewhat arbitrary ranking system to over-inflate expectations, and when said unrealistic expectations aren't met, post multiple threads unfairly ripping these players, who are 18-20 year old student athletes.

holy cow! the kid is HUGE - and not in a gardner way

National rankings are extremely difficult. They make for interesting discussion, but as I've said before, as someone who ranks kids in just one state (Wisconsin), I can't imagine doing it for all 50.

ESPN is a good source, but remember, it had Davante Gardner as a 2-star recruit with a rating of 88.

Steve Taylor's 4-star status and 92 rating are much higher, for what it's worth.

In the end, nothing really matters until the guys get on campus and start playing and practicing.

I'd hope so.  Not much to do in the desert when you're a 12 year old in a 25 year old's body.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.
