At halftime of MI/MSU, they showed a table with Conferences and Top 20 RPI Teams

1. Big Ten - 4 Teams in Top 20
2. Big East - 6 teams
3. Big 12 - 3 teams
4. ACC - 1 team
5. SEC - 2 teams
6. Mt. West - 1 team

Looks like yet another indication of the Big East being "average" and "mediocre"...

Though, I do have to point out how awful our bottom feeders must be if we've got 6 in the top 20 and we're still second to the Big Tenwelevnewena.. whatever

Bottom feeders Villanova and Pitt.

Yeah. I actually think PITT will win their fair share of Big East games in the end.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

yeah, but here we go again with michigan st. and izzo.  they just love that guy.  after tonights loss to michigan they will probably only drop them like 2-3 spots.  the big ten is way over rated again and mich. st. is a great example, while the big east eats their own

Izzo is a great coach with a consistently solid  program. Guys like that often get the benefit of the doubt. Very few coaches like that exist though, Izzo, Roy, Coach K, maybe Calipari/Calhoun/Boeheim at times. Definitely the exception.

i agree, but how many losses does the guy(s) need to be knocked out of the top ten?

probably more than 2 tough road games. especially considering that everyone outside of SU and UK are losing too. Who should move in front of them? Looking at the standings objectively, there arent many that i honestly feel are better than MSU. I dont even think Michigan is better to be honest. On the flip side, ther eare about 10 teams i think are better than murray state, but the rankings are so flawed, it'll never be accurate.

Incidentally, we are tied for second in the RPI,   http://www.rpiforecast.com/live-conf-rpi.html

Our year end conference projections has the Big East in third, slipping one nothc

http://www.rpiforecast.com/confrpi.html

When judging a conference, you have to look at the whole thing.  Our bottom feeders really suck and since we all get to play them for easy wins, that hurts the conference.  Big Ten is the best top to bottom conference this year and will get a higher percentage of teams into the dance than any other.

Almost half our conference is rated with an RPI below 100 right now.  That is awful.  The projected RPI also has 7 finishing below 100 (though a slightly different 7 team).  We have only 7 teams in the top 60, or 43.7%.

http://www.rpiforecast.com/confs/BE.html

The Big Ten has three teams below 100, or 25% of their conference.  That compared to our 43.7% of the Big East sitting that low.

The Big Ten also has 75% of their conference (9 teams) with a rating of 60 or better.  8 of them are 50 or better.

http://www.rpiforecast.com/confs/B10.html

There is no comparison this year top to bottom.  We have some poor teams bringing up the rear that bring the conference down.

Even Jay Bilas says this.  ;D
