E-Mail From Chet Coppock

I e-mailed Chet after the incident last week to let him know that I was saddened to hear what happened to him, and to express my hope that he doesn't view our entire fan base as the result of one idiot. I got an e-mail back today, and thought I'd post it here.

MUDISH it was great you corresponded with Chet on the incident. I was surprised that Waldron got off as easy as he did. I was surfing net and found this today.

Waldron should have gotten more of a punishment. There's no excuse for what he did. It's nice that Chet realizes Waldron is not representative of your typical MU alum.

Yeah, that is a pretty poor punishment IMO. I would say he should have to pay for CC's medical expenses. Something in the 100s of hours of community service and $100s of dollars in fines would seem more appropriate, with a reasonably-strict probation.

Not that I necessarily agree with it, but that's a pretty typical sentence for a misdemeanor battery conviction for a first-time offender. I'd be interested to know whether he also got supervision or whether a conviction was entered.

As for Chet's medical bills: that's why we have civil courts.

Fair enough Pakuni, that's why I do what I do and don't deal with the courts. I hope then that CC took the clown to civil court and got his medical expenses paid for. Maybe sounds punishments overall need to be tougher if that's a typical sentence for a first-time, misdemeanor battery. From what I do know about the courts, I would agree with the supervision.
