I know this has been talked about a lot.  Let me ask if this way ...

It seems like MU is not undersized from the 1 - 4.  It is definitely undersized at the 5.

Is the definition of undersized only the 5?

If so, then is the definition of speed only the 1 and maybe the 2?

We are playing 3 guards.   If we were playing two guards and 3 6'6 guys, your argument tracks.

Yes, MU really is undersized.
Jae Crowder, bless his heart, is a 6-foot-6 four in the Big East.
DJO is a 6-foot-2 2/3.
Vander may be slightly above average for a two, small for a three.
Junior is average for a point.

Yes, size is most definitely linked to forwards/centers and speed to guards. Few teams (Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas) have both.

Playing three guards pretty much concedes you are undersized, and when your "PF" is 6-foot-6 and your center 6-foot-7 (J. Wilson) or 6-foot-8 (Gardner), you are definitely undersized.

On the flip side, Marquette has plenty of speed using three guards and having a 6-foot-6 PF and 6-foot-7 "center" makes them even faster.

Is the Pope catholic? Besides the point guard is too slow and can't shoot.

Not as small as some of our past teams. Maybe we should use 4 guards like Missouri sometimes does

Big difference that hurts MU this season is that besides being undersized, MU just does not have a consistent perimeter 3-point shooter that can light it up from the outside and open up the middle. Imagine how many more clear drives DJO could have if he had an Acker, Cubillan, or dream scenario, Novak, on the perimeter that stopped teams from packing the lane. I'm happy with 19-5, but with both our big guys hurt, I'd love a true sharpshooter from 3-point land to offset our height disadvantage.

Hopefully, next year that's Jake Thomas.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
