Think we saw flashes again last night of Jamil Wilson's impact on the team/program.  Think with each game that passes his impact will be more and more significant.  To highlight:

1) His length is a tremendous asset on defense.  Thought he covered up A LOT of space defensively.
2) Thought Jamil played very aggressive and was active on the boards - great to see.
3) Jamil has a solid 3 point stroke - additional help to space the floor.
4) Jamil had 1 nice drive from top of key area to the hoop but didn't finish..but looked pretty good putting it on the floor.

Think Jamil and Todd Mayo will be huge wildcards this season that could push us into elite - Big East Champion/Final Four contention.

Stated prior to season the Jamil is difference between very good and great year. If he continues to grow and work hard his role in overall success will be huge. You can see him coming into his own each game and looks more confident. He is long and athletic, usually a pretty good combination.

Wade for President

He needs to (as do others) BOX OUT.  Washington KILLED us on the glass.  At one point, ESPN replayed (from the side angle) a Huskies shot that they got the offensive rebound on the miss.  It clearly showed Jamil not putting a body on somebody, and simply waiting for the rebound.

I hope Buzz and Co work on the fundamentals with this team.  Find someone...and get your backside into them.  Plain and simple.

Jamil will be looked on to rebound the ball...especially in Otule's absence.

First lesson in my EXTREMELY short lived basketball career.  Boxing out is like blocking in football.  It is more about want than physically ability.  You just have to pound those fundamentals in.  We do enough things right where this shouldn't be an issue we can't fix.

Jae was yelling at JWilson coming out of timeouts about getting beat.   Why is everyone busting on Junior when Jamil had a far worse game defensively/rebounding?   And he failed to finish a couple of times right under the hoop without that much defense.    He was far more frustrating to me than Junior.

We R Final Four

Agree with WFP.  The last 10 minutes, Jamil either did not box out several times or his man back doored him several times, and he was caught watching the paint dry.  I think that he has tremendous upside, but last night was not good down the stretch defensively.  His length is great and he certainly can stretch the floor, which will be an asset later on this season and next.

I agree that he should be in more.  He adds so much to both ends of the floor.  But, two instances I can think of where he needs to improve.  One, he still looks tentative with what to do with the ball sometimes.  That can be solved by further practices and more time on the court.  Second, and I agree completely with President Wade that Jamil needs to box out better.  On a free throw by UW, where Jamil should clearly have position, the UW guy went over Jamil, got the rebound and the put back, making it a 4 point swing, if I remember correctly.  That said, I still love his game.

Is it me or does Wilson's arch angle of his shot seem really high?  Its like twice that of others when they shoot.

Honestly, Jamil's defense hasn't been an issue most of the year.  Last night he had some issues though.

He's got so much potential, its hard to see him get out-rebounded, not box out, and be passive on offense.  He will get there, its hard to be patient as a fan though.  Playing next/behind the almost amazingly under-athletic Jae, who battles his butt off, his lack of attitude/toughness/aggressiveness out there becomes more visible.

I'm amazed how apparent little athleticism Jae has (relatively to Jimmy/Lazar/other successful 3/4s), but somehow he gets the job done. His past 2 dunks on breaks, he looks like he's got about a half of an inch to play with before being blocked by the rim.

In JWil's defense, I don't think he was planning on going 25 minutes at the 5.
