Checked the wiki and saw the list of Marquette-friendly bars in the city, but was hoping to get some input from people who have been to those (or other) establishments.

Thanks, fellow 'scoopers!

I moved to the city about a year and a half ago. Have not found a place yet for watching MU hoops that I really like. I saw the gathering place for the UW game is Mad River on the UES which baffles me as that is a Badger bar. Really weird choice.

I have been to both Village Pourhouse and Stout (listed on the Wiki) but they are both really large bars that are friendly to anyone looking to watch a game.

Would love to find a place like Kettle of Fish is for Packer games. Something a little smaller but will always be willing to turn on the MU game.

village pourhouse is fun but like was said not MU specific.  I had a really good time watching the tournament games there last year though because it is also a Syracuse spot (like most NYC bars) so the sh#t talking was impressive to say the least

LAMUfan

mad river would suck for an MU game, serious badger bar

Is the NY MU club collaborating with the UW alumni club for the game? They did that a few years ago in DC...worst event ever because it was done at the Badger bar...until we won the game

Madison Square Garden - half court, lower level

I nominate Bleecker Heights Tavern for the "unofficial" Marquette bball bar.
They have had every game so far this year and it's strategically located above Five Guys (you can bring up your burger/peanuts to the bar).  There isn't a lot of competition from other schools, so it's usually possible to get audio as well.

Would be great to watch these games with some other MU fans as I'm often the one random guy clapping and no one has a clue as to why ...

I'm there after the Blind Tiger for the real beer 1st

The alums there need to find a better bar that puts all the games on and gives good specials.  That Village Pourhouse on the west side sucks (although I like the E. Village version).  For the tournament last year it was the alumni spot for like 6 schools, despite being a smallish bar.  They put the Marquette game on in the back room and I was at the bar surrounded by a ton of Boston U. fans hoping they could keep within 20 of Kansas.  Ironically my buddy went to Boston U. and wasn't aware that they were in the tournament.  I practically had to beg the bartender to put on of the TVs on for me.

Never really liked Stout either when they had it there.  It is big and can have a private room for the MU fans, but not a great feel so I didn't go very often.  I guess the midtown location makes it easy for people who take the train or drive into NYC.

There are tons of good sports bars that I bet would really welcome Marquette alums if people showed up and supported it.

This Saturday I would rather not watch the game at all than go to Mad River. If I know other MU fans will be at Bleecker Heights I will definitely give it a day in court.
