earned Big East coach of the year honors after 22-8 record and 12 BE wins.  Congrats Bond Symansky.

He was the ACC Coach of the Year at Georgia Tech in 2004.  He has a 213-85 record in his career (might even be before their 22-8 season this year, not quite sure on that) and has gone to an Elite Eight.  Have heard he didn't just decide to leave Georgia Tech on his own.  Could be completely wrong on that though.  Had a chance to sit in on one of his practices the first year he was here (it's now his 3rd year)...let's just say the team was definitely not used to working that hard.  Pretty sure every girl cried at least once in the 2 or so hours I watched.  Intense guy, but seems nice.

I think you're right.   I believe Bond's teams dipped in regards to success in the ACC and never got back to consistent winning.     Cottingham had the foresight to give a young coach with a good recruiting acumen another shot.
