Maybe.   But it is sure to get entertaining.   Time to get some popcorn and sit back and watch.

Is West Virginia a better fit in the Big 12 than the Big East?  This new information points to "YES".

That is correct.

How sweet it would be for a Warrior to take down Huggy!

Dr. Blackheart

Hill just moved to Maryland from KSU. Beasley verballed to UNC-C first when Hill was there, then switched his commit to KSU when Hill was hired at KSU. So, Huggy actually didn't hire him directly from AAU (although I think that was actually legal back then anyway). Turgeon has had a very good first recruiting class.

Wow.  I am totally shocked.

You mean the sweet little, occasionally misguided Huggie Bear is in trouble?

Say it aint so!! Next thing you know the Jesuits will be swearing off Jesus for an alternative!

Or, Texans will vote for Obama.

And Illinois government will be honest.

My my my.

Best of luck Huggie Bear. You'll need it! That Kangaroo Court in Indianapolis will have your furry butt on the roof of their car, driving home and ready to mount your head in the enforcement division's oak-paneled wall before you can say, "But Ranger Smith...."

I think Huggy is only in trouble, if they can prove he knew Hill was paying the mother's rent.

I have a question about Huggins that maybe someone here can answer.  I don't know if I read this, or if I imagined it, but I figured someone on here might have some knowledge.  During the time that Huggins was not affiliated with any school (between Cinci and Kansas State), was he subject to any of the recruiting limitations that generally govern coaches' conduct?  I'm not talking about the stuff in the report...which would seem to be improper.  I'm talking about contact, emails, visits, etc.  Because Huggins was not affiliated with any school, did he have complete freedom in those areas?  If so, he could essentially recruit 24/7/365 for Bobby Huggins University, telling kids, "I don't know where I'm going to end up, but I hope you'll sign on once I'm there."  I think that's basically the pitch he used, but I was wondering if he had to follow the rules.

Anyone know?

Short answer: No.

the f'd up thing is, so the ncaa drops a bomb on huggy.  who actually gets punished??  do they nail kansas state? huggins?  then what?  kansas state and it's players will bear the brunt of that?  or west virginia gets stung and its current players?  i hope they just go after huggins wallet and west virginia can deal with him as they may.  hey, kelvin sampson may be available

They would not do anything to West Virginia, if they do not find any violations at Virginia. They could do something to Huggins, either a suspension or ban from college basketball. As far as Kansas St they could make them pay back tournment money, if they determine Beasly was not eligible. Also, the question of institutional control can become a problem. I think the issues at Miami are much more pervasive and so far we have not seen anything happen to them.

If the NCAA gets really mad at Huggins, they may put Cleveland State on probation again.

Makes you wonder what Bruce Pearl is really up to these days.  I'm sure he's hard at work coming up with a new double coupon promotion for those grocery stores.

Exactly...it could be a hell of a loop hole if you're a high profile coach who loses his job.  If the rules don't apply, it would work better for a guy like Huggy who didn't get fired for NCAA violations.  Lose your job for some internal issue (like Huggins, Knight, etc.), and then take a year off (probably going to get paid a settlement anyway, so no money problems).  During that year, recruit like crazy with no restrictions as long as you don't do anything that will jeopardize the athletes' amateur status.  Get a good core of kids to commit to you.  Then negotiate with the high major programs that have openings, tell them that you've already got the nucleus of your team (which is likely far better than anything they've had in a while) and then...profit?

I think it would be harder for a guy like Pearl, because some of his NCAA troubles are probably going to follow him to his next job.

GOO

Huggins is not in trouble based upon what has come out so far.  He hired a coach, not even an AAU coach.  Player follows coach.  Fulce followed Buzz around to a couple of schools.  Nothing wrong with following a coach.  Yes, I know, there is more to it than that.  But, you need a smoking gun and proof that there is clearly more to it for the NCAA to do anything.

If that is all that comes out as being linked to him, he is fine.  Irronically, if he gets nailed for more, he could be coaching in the B12 against KSU, while KSU is penalized for his actions while at KSU.  Would be kind of funny, with WVU to the B12.

Remember, we have a lawsuit here, so if it doesn't settle, I assume that there will be some very interesting depositions coming up in the future.  Much of this court filing may be a warning to Joel Bell that if he wants to press his case, information that may make it very difficult to get involved with other top athletes will come out.  If Bell is concerned enough, he and his case will go away.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
