The folks over at RTC have a summary of the Vegas odds for who will cut down the nets next March.  Among the biggest snubs according to their experts.?  Our very own Golden Eagles.

And, because who can't resist pouring gasoline onto a burning fire, a team that finished last (LAST!) in the Big Tweleven has better odds to win it all than MU.

A lot of things would have to go right, but I feel like we have a better chance than last year. Primarily because of plugging JW into a few different lineups to go big or small. Replacing Jimmy, he's got more wing span and height.

For +10000 it's $10 to win $1,000 right?... If so, I'm a believer.

As someone who attended MU during the glory days of Al it's hard to see the team not get the national recognition we once had. That said, it's been a very long time between Al and us being really consistently relevant in the big scheme of things. We had a brief run under O'Neill then he bolted and we became almost a non-entity (unless playing in the "other" post season tourney counts) until Crean. Crean rebuilt the program, had his deep run then bolted.

I can tell you that having lived in Texas for 32 years it was almost impossible to get any news about MU basketball until O'Neill came on board. He traveled the country meeting with alumni groups, sent us all hand written thank you notes for coming out to see him and put those who came to the meeting on the athletic dept mailing list. He sent us copies of the annual press guide and regular press release mailings during his entire tenure. He even sent a copy of the Tennessee press guide during his first year there.

After he left, it was almost like MU didn't exist save for the occasion TV appearances in the NIT. We got nothing in the local media and MU was never on TV.

As much as it bothers most of us, we are still not considered among the basketball elite to most people outside our own collective bubble. Hopefully Buzz will be around for a long time and can restore our place in the basketball community. Every year there is a big question mark surrounding our program. That doesn't happen at UK, UNC, Duke etc....the only question for those programs is HOW good will they be?  not will they be ANY good ?....that's a big difference in perception.

The thing to remember is that these aren't just based on who they think will win, but how people will bet. Did we get snubbed? Sure. But my guess is that based on history and alumni base, Vegas would be due to pay out a lot more if I4 won than if MU did.

Heck... I'd get in at 100:1 if I were in Vegas right now.  If you gave this year's team 100 opportunities to win the whole thing, they'd probably do it at least once or twice..

No, Danny Pudi... I'm not creating 100 different timelines here, either.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

+1. Any Scoopers in Vegas wanna lay some scratch for me?

The odds they have are wrong. I was in Vegas this last weekend (10/16) and put down a bet on Marquette to win the title at 75:1. The opening line was 150:1 so apparently a lot of people like Marquette this year.

Warrior1

I was recently in Vegas and saw multiple numbers depending where I was. The lowest I saw was 75/1 at Harrahs and I saw 100/1 at The Bellagio... This was about a month ago?

That's the thing wth lines.  The more we bet on Marquette to win, the shorter the odds become.  Theoretically, we could but a massive amount of dough on MU and end up 2:1.

monkeyman34

I put 20 on MU to win it all 150:1 back in May at the Caesars book.
