Author must be a Madison fan.  Here's the excerpt describing Wes' NBA career thus far:

"Matthews was undrafted but has played two productive seasons with Utah and Portland. He averaged 15.9 points with the Trail Blazers last season."

Sheeeeesh.

All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

Yeah, I wonder how he would have described Devin Harris' first two season average of 7.5 ppg.  Probably a few more superlatives.

Sounds like the author is Todd Rosiak's replacement on the Marquette beat.

I don't get it....it is an accurate statement.  The author spent a couple of sentences on each player (Matthews, Butler, Hayward and Novak.)  What's the issue?

MattyWarrior

It could have been a really good article. Its just basic reporting,no human interest. I mean how often is somthing this
cool going to happen. No report on Marquette Madness?

GGGG

Some people are just never satisfied.  Honestly, unless the MJS starts printing on gold paper with blue ink, people are just going to think that they are "anti-MU."

MarkMiller

Enlund's reporting is solid. Nothing wrong with his statement about Matthews. He's been around a long time.

augoman

While nothing inaccurate in the article, it is mere reporting of facts..., not much of an article.  Could have been very good-especially with the local-boy-makes-good, against-all-odds angle of Matthews' career, or the fact that some NBA players are working hard at their training and the 'home' they have at MU.

The urinal has never given MU more than lip service.  Never.

Sharpie

The article was nothing more than a minor recap of the nights events and who attended basically. It doesn't really seem to be intended as a major article.

Not sure why so many get so worked up about stuff like this. Take it for what it is. The article with mention of all of our former players is better than nothing. You can't really expect a whole helluva lot from the JS about Marquette basketball this time of year, can you?

AZWarrior

Agreed - the sentences are accurate.  And I may be guilty of being overly sensitive.  As I was reading them though I felt that ....undrafted free agent.....becomes Utah's starting 2-guard.....becomes highly paid free agent.... might have deserved a bit more than "two productive seasons".

The again, I can see from his articles posted, that he was quite busy last evening.  So if he was accurate if incomplete, it's understandable.
