Let's take a break from all the conference realignment talk - and get back to this year's team and the newcomers.  Anyone heard any reports of how Todd Mayo is doing?  Juan?  Derrick?

Miss that MU Revealed series from last year that at least gave us some insights.

In the wake of all of the conference upheaval, we should be pretty excited about this upcoming season...lots of talent in house...and it would be great to put a beat down on Pitt, and Syracuse...and for MU to make a run to the Final Four to further stamp itself as a big time basketball program on the rise.

Good news  ;D

Agree with Ners.  Let's talk about the team and the upcoming season.  We do have a lot of talent.  Does anyone have any updates on the players or practice?

I heard that the 2nd round of walk-on tryouts are on Saturday

Man - It is a slow time of year with regard to the team news!  I'd heard Mayo is very quick with the ball/up and down the court - and appears to be a pretty good shooter too.  Just looking at some of the team pics that have shown up of late - Derrick Wilson certainly is built.  Juan - seems like he will be a multi-talented/faceted player who can do a lot of things for a team.

Wade for President

Is there a reason that 'Revealed' series can't be a annual fixture?  That feature was AWESOME.  Given the conference doom & gloom, I think I might go back and watch them again.

I can close my eyes and picture Buzz yelling @ Vander "YOU GOTTA BE THINKING ABOUT THE NEXT PLAY!  THE NEXT PLAY!"

I think it started when practice started, so it still maybe coming this year.

Anybody know the date MU can practice as a team?  Also, the revealed series was pretty cool. I thought they said it would happen every year. We need some good news and inside info on the team, even with all the crap going on I'm pumped about this group of guys..

Somethings that I have heard:

**Junior is really running the show well but his outside shot still isn't that good.
**Todd Mayo is ridiculously quick and really loves to attack the basket.
**Jake Thomas can REALLY shoot, but is pretty poor defensively
**Gardner's mid-range game has improved immensely.
**Jamil is probably the best all around basketball player on the team.
**Juan is a mini version of Jamil, and as side note is a very thoughtful and intelligent person.

That's it.

When we were recruiting Mayo, he was described to me as not overly athletic, but a scorer and he can shoot it.  A 2 guard.

Now, it seems that he is fast, has a slight build, and can handle the ball in the open court.  So can he play the 1?  He seems smaller than what I expected and quicker.  Any good comparisons for Mayo?

He's not as athletic as his brother, but he is certainly athletic.  I don't know enough to make a good comparison.

This is against Westwind Prep from almost a year ago.

Mayo is an interesting player from video and I haven't seen him in person.  Every game video and highlight video I've seen of him shows a very developed offensive player and he may toned his body up from a year ago if he's considered thin. I think he's athletic, but because he plays pretty controlled, his athletic ability is kind of understated.
