I thought I read in one article, that in order to leave the Big East, schools had to pay $5 MM and give 27 months notice.  Is that accurate? If so the Big East stays together for at least 2 years and 4 months.  Hell, anything could happen in that time frame.

One thing that will happen during that time period is a new TV contract for the BE. Crazy how things happen. Not long ago, Marinatto was viewed as the luckiest guy in the country because the BE was the last to negotiate and seemed to have a competitive advantage. Obviously, Pitt and Cuse didnt really care about the new deal and decided to leave. Now, the BE is likely to get another bad deal that firmly places the conference as the worst of all of the BCS conferences. So.....maybe the BE should have signed that ESPN deal afterall...

The rich are getting richer and the poor are struggling to maintain. Seton Hall must be fuming right now.

Those leaving the conference will probably try to buy their way out so they can leave sooner.  Best-case scenario is probably if the league can negotiate that to equal those schools' shares of TV revenue for that time frame plus the original $5 million.
