 Not enough big and talls in the area?     Terry Sanders, Merritt, RJax, were high rated then all of a sudden nothing....  Buzz not one high rated big yet and that's with the JUCO spigot open.

No idea, but this new list has MU as the 12th ranked recruiting class in the BE for 2011. Not the country, but the BE.

Nope, they'd be part of the 2010 recruiting class.

This is a great question.  There seem to be plenty of bigs available each year.  Is Buzz uncomfortable recruiting and coaching bigs?  It's an uphill fight for the team to win in the BE without a stable of good bigs.

Otule?   Gardner?    Big.....improved both during the season and (in the case of Otule) from season to season.

They were not included in the '10 rankings either.  Wilson came on board well after the rankings came in.  I doubt Singleton would have made much of an impact.

It seems we may need to show we can develop bigs first. Look at our wings, since Wade went from a 3-star recruit to an All-American superstar, we have no problem getting athletic wings. Mason, Matthews, Hayward, Blue, Wilson, Anderson, Ferguson, etc. But we haven't done that with a big.

Neither Otule nor Gardner seem likely to be NBA bound, but if either gets there, or at least becomes an All-Big East player, it will probably help our recruiting of such players immensely. As soon as we prove we can get guys to the next level, next level guys will come here.

The development of Otule and Gardner has to be at least a bit encouraging. Here's hoping for continues improvement.

Exactly, hard to sell a product without any recommendations or past success. Which is why MU is so successful recruiting guards and wings.

The thing is what stud SG, PG, Center, or Small Forward is going to want to come here this year? Juan is going to get Fulce like minutes in my estimation, D-Will will get early year Cadougan minutes, and Mayo will be somewhat of a wild card this year in terms of minutes. We have DJO, Cadougan, and Vander ready to take most of the minutes at SG, and PG...DJO will get huge minutes this year. Center has a 1,2 punch of Otule, and Gardner for the next 2 years, Jamil, Jamail, Jae, and Juan at the 3, and 4...The only thing we need is a big PF, a banger in the paint. Aaric Murray would have been perfect for us,  but as we all know that went away. Don't look at this recruiting class and be disappointed, no top 50 player wants to sit on the bench for most of the season, and they would have been doing just that this year. Think about who we have on the floor and you should be smiling about what the next 2 years brings rather than moping about this one recruiting class. The 2012 class will be a much better barometer of if Buzz' recruiting has fallen.

This is why I think we need to step up to the next level, and Buzz needs to lead that. If we start routinely making Sweet 16s and being ranked, then the studs will come even if they have to sit because they will expect success. I realize we likely won't ever be a Duke, a North Carolina, or a Kentucky, but I think that next tier is attainable. Fellow Big East schools like Louisville and Syracuse can pull in top classes despite being loaded with talent. If Buzz can get us back to the Final Four, I think that type of recruiting success is attainable.

We have a small class but from a talent level out class compares well with Rutger's, WV, Nova.  they are all rated higher becuase they have more player's.  You cannot play more then 2-3 Fr so our class could be just as productive as some of the Higer rated Big East class's.  Plus add Wilson is new and TJ will be in that class in 1 year as well.  I agree that we need more Size on the Roster and not gettting one in 2011 will hurt us down the road unless we got a Higly rated guy in 2012 that can play right away.
