Marquette University officially named Joe Amplo the man who will lead the school's new men's lacrosse program. The 1999 Hofstra grad and current associate head coach for the Pride, will leave his familiar Long Island for the Midwest.

Inside Lacrosse got a hold of Amplo to discuss departing his alma mater and building a brand new tradition at Marquette.

Too busy.  Dump the outline of the state of WI, as it suggests to me that MU is just another UW hyphen school. There is a much better logo out there.

I say dump the outline of Wisconsin and the two clip-art lacrosse players.  The MU logo with the lacrosse stick/ball is enough.

And why add the outline of Wisconsin at all?

Dump the state of WI logo. we're trying to be a national school, not a state school.

I agree with the above comments.  My first thought was the end of the stick is hitting the guy on the left in the head.  Then the WI outline, makes no sense for Marquette, a Big East team and an east coast game.

Finally, less is more.  Keep it simple and eliminate until you have a simple design.  Think simplicity like Apple does.  They know how to market.

The one positive about the WI outline is that people in the east coast wont think we are from Marquette MI.

I think what they are trying to do here is show that lacrosse is a sport that is growing further west. It is a major accomplishment for NCAA lax. I could see them phasing out the clutter and just going to the MU and stick though after the hype dies down

Also, FWIW, the Wisco outline might be a recruiting/marketing tool, or just a way to give UW the middle finger, since we will be the only varsity D1 Lacrosse school in the state.

But I agree...too busy
