Was at the Indiana High School championships Saturday. A few names from Indiana that are being looked at by Marquette.

Adonis Filer
Zak Irvin
Trevon Bluett

Brewtown Andy

Oh, man, being named Adonis must suck for that kid, even more so now because of Charlie Sheen.

Luckily, he's a big time basketball player for his school, so he probably doesn't get hassled much.

Adonis is a 2011 Shooting Guard. U sure we have interest?

mugrad99

That's what I was told by one of his coaches. He is under the radar due to him transferring from Illinois. He's really a combo guard. Many people at that game thought he outplayed Yogi Ferrell.

Clam Crowder

ESPN has him as a 1 star which is the lowest eval I have ever seen on a Buzz Williams target. I watched a youtube video with highlights of him and he appears to have a very Vander-esque jumper, and looks like a slasher. I am not too sure we would need another guard

kmwtrucks

Along those same lines I would think if we took another guard he would either be a pure PG or a knock down shooter.  DW is a 1-2 and Mayo is a 2-1.  JR is 1 period. Might just be insurance if things change.  His best offer is from Valparaiso at this point.

TedBaxter

Adonis Filer from Bishop Noll will be attending Brewster Academy in New Hampshire next year and will be in the 2012 class.  One to watch for next year.

HMMMM...Buzz scraping the bottom of the barrel?
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

Yeah, kind of like he did with your boy Devante Gardner.  Seriously, Willie - what's your point in these always snide posts about Buzz's recruiting?  He's recruited better than any coach at MU since Al.  WTF do you want?

"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

The other guy did the comment on him being a 1 start recruit--so I guess that makes your post snide doesn't it Ners? if you do not like it, use the ignore button. And since you want to compare to Gardner, he was a Viginia all state 1st team, so I would not call him the bottom of the barrel---but you just did!  Since you asked, what I want are studs!!!!!!!

MU B2002

I thought Espn 1 star meant he had not been rated, or am I confusing that with some other rating service.

No, 1 star is rated. There are plenty of 0 rated players, like this guy from our 2009 class.

Clam Crowder

Recruiting services have been proven wrong...but I like Willie want studs. I much rather have us listed with a 5 star than a 1 star.

Many kids don't get seen as much as others.

Some place, i.e. ESPN, don't always update everyone's profile equally.

Living and dying with lists and rakings...especially one in particular, is pretty absurd.

Revolutionary stuff right here.

Wades World. In addition to the fact that you are being sarcastic for no reason take a look at the roster and ask yourself why in God's name we need another guard. Don't waste the last 2011 scholarship on another guard...bank it or get a big. Don't be a tough guy on an anonymous forum, you just look like a fool doing that.

Why in God's name do we need another guard? We don't just need another guard, we need another point guard. Here's why...

Junior Cadougan: Looks good, but will he hold up as the starter over a full season? What if he gets injured?

Derrick Wilson: Hasn't done anything at this level, and unless they are standouts, Buzz doesn't seem to favor freshmen. We can't expect him to be ready to be a 10 mpg guy yet.

Dave Singleton: A walk-on, his numbers at High Point weren't overwhelming, and the level of competition they play there pales in comparison to Marquette. I hope he can contribute, but it's unrealistic to expect much more than 2 mpg of mop-up.

Vander Blue/Jamil Wilson/Todd Mayo: None of them are natural point guards, and should only be there in an emergency. My hope is we won't have an emergency, but you never know...

Point guard is the most important position in college basketball. That's why Buzz says he wants a point guard every year. Smith's departure leaves a gap. Ideally, a JUCO sophomore would be perfect, but I'm not sure there's one out there. But behind Cadougan, we have nothing proven. Up front, we will be able to platoon Otule and Gardner, which worked fine this year, with Crowder and Wilson filling in there when match-ups dictate. We don't have a current need for a big. We do have a current need for contribution from the point. There will probably be 8-12 mpg at the point when Caddy isn't in there. Right now, there's no proven commodity to fill that void, so we should have as many options as we can to make sure it is filled.

Being a tough guy?  Never claimed to be that.  Just saying, wouldn't ANYBODY rather be listed with interest in a 5 star over a 1 star?  Honestly.  But no.  Do not bank a scholarship.  Never bank a scholarship.  They're 1 year contracts.  There is absolutely no point in banking a scholarship, ever.

Clam Crowder

Well played, but honestly we don't need a one star guard which is what I am referring to in this post...If we are going to take a 1 star with this last recruit I want him to be a BIG, and that is the only way ill be content with that being the use of our last scholarship.

You bank a scholarship to maintain a good reputation with prospects. I really would like to known as the school who gives scholarships to players for one year before taking it away since they want to use it on a better player the next year. Also one less scholarship player means one less ego to deal with.

marquette99

Need one more big (plenty of games we need 15 fouls to give against opposing bigs to make sure we cango big at the 4 and the 5).

If not then needanother potential pg.we MIGHT be ok at PG, but we have just one who has shown he can play it so we increase our odds by adding one more possible to go along with wilson and singleton.

If you have a pg or a big who MIGHT contribute you can't bank it.

If you pick a kid who looks like a good mid-major but might be undervalued (really wade almost fit this category) you take him and you might get a diamond or if not you gave a kid a shot to play big time and he goes onto play for boston university or somewhere having gotten a shot.  Not the end of the world.
