Going into the half Nantz said that Calipari is trying to be just the second coach to take three different teams to the final four.  The other was Pitino.

Problem is Calipari was caught cheating with his first two and they were vacated.  Officially they never happened.

1996 Umass was vacated because of cheating associated with Marcus Camby
2008 Memphis was vacated because of cheating associated with Derrick Rose

Vacating finals fours is widely considered a joke.  At a minimum a NCAA paid announcer should respect their own rules and note this would be Calipari's FIRST trip to the final four.

Am I wrong on this and let little things like fixing grades for eligibility (Rose) and money (Camby) slide?

CBS pays the annoucers, and pays the NCAA for the telecast rights. For their payments, CBS retains editorial control.
Jim says less that the NCAA takes issue with ,than many others over prior times-- including Al McGuire.
The NCAA likes Jim.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

You can take away all those things but deep down the fans of the school and the people who watched know that it did happen!!  You cant erase the memories of people.
Trust me when I say this...Cal isnt the only one who is cheating in the NCAA!!

It's Jim Nantz.
My apologies in advance.
Whenever former UH golfer Jim Nantz (3 amigos--Blaine McAlester, Fred Couples) returns to Houston, as he will for the Final Four, you are due to have to listen to his likely references, to Phi Slamma Jamma, Guy V Lewis, the UCLA/UH Game of the Century, in '68, at the Astrodome...and even his talk of the PGA's Shell Houston Open (as he'll be promoting the Masters, too).

He's Houston proud, and I'm assuming  you're not...so, I apologize for Jim, in advance.

Actually, that couldn't be more wrong.  The NCAA has exonerated Coach Cal each time.  In fact, they have gone out of their way to say he had no involvement.  Now, whether you believe that or not is another story, but the irony here is that the NCAA who Nantz supposedly "insulted" is the same NCAA that has exonerated Caliprari.  The two Final Fours that were vacated were due to having ineligible players but the NCAA ruled Cal was not involved (again, not for me to decide if he was involved or not...the NCAA says he wasn't).

Corrected ...

No doubt ... but Cal's programs are is very sloppy as he they get caught more often.

Better Chicos?

What WAS insulting was CBS repeatedly showing Calipari's father in the stands like this was some heartwarming story.

Anyone (beside willie) want Cal as our coach?  I know I don't.

Classic Nantz; at his most retch-inducing, Hallmark-card-platitude-spewing, best level of smarm.
