Good for Cottingham.  He took a huge risk on Buzz, and MU ended up footing the bill to settle with UNO on Buzz's behave - which I'm sure Cottingham had in the back of his mind when he put in the buyout clause.

I'm sure to Buzz when he signed the contract he didn't think twice about the buyout clause as MU would PAY him that as a severance if it didn't work out.

Next MU-Buzz contract will probably start around $2mill and incrase each year for 5-6 years, with a buyout in the $1-2mill range.  By then hopefully Buzz will have his program running in high gear, and not want to make a move.
