Good Season...poor finish...Big injury to a dominant player=One and done.  Doesn't this make it 4 out of the last 5 NCAA appearances where we are out after the first round?

AlumKCof93

Lets save the gloom and doom for another time.  The McNeal injury is something the team will have to battle through and I fully expect a win against MSU.  The McNeal injury makes winning at NC difficult, but we'll see.

Nice attitude.  See ya next year.

No need for you to watch the game then.  Wait, didn't they beat Pittsburgh without McNeal?  Don't they play 5-on-5 and not 1-on-1?  I wouldn't be so quick to count them out.  Getting jobbed by the selection committee may actually be a positive - now they've got something to prove.  I say they beat MSU.

MU NY

Look, I'd love to see DJ, Matthews or Barro step up but we haven't seen it in a while.  Fitz was THE factor in our last big win and I can only pray that he hits 40% or higher from behind the arc.

exactly, what a fan!  24 wins, one of only three programs to get 10 wins in the Big East in back to back years, a win over Duke, a CBE Classic win, and a very young team.........its been a good ride.  moreover, MU recently has proven it can gut out games without McNeal in the lineup -- something this team could not do back in January (see PC).  that's a good sign -- and speaks to the improvement of Cuby, Lazar, and Fitz specifically.

You have GOT to be a Jets fan.. that's the only thing that can explain how jaded you are when it comes to your own team.  Still, it's no excuse. - shame on you and see you next year.

I'm surprised that he left out the fact that he was hurt in practice, Ammo transferring, Crean is terrible coach.......

mviale

Funny, you see a total meltdown and I see opportunities for Cube, Hayward, Kinsella and Fitz

You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

MU NY

The one player we are talking about is our #2 scorer and #1 defender no?...It is not Jamil Lott we're talking about right?

All I know is somebody will need to step in bigtime...no DJ 2-14 night is going to get it done.

For the record, I am a huge Crean backer and don't care about Ammo.

Pakuni

If it's one and done, then so be it. I'll be disappointed, not devastated. Fact is, MU got hit with a double-whammy of misfortune (injury and seed). Now they have to face a team whose head coach is not only one of the best tournament coaches around, but alsoone who knows pretty much everything there is to know about what Marquette is trying to do out on the floor.

On the bright side, MSU is 3-10 away from their home state this year, with no true road wins since 1/20 at Penn State.

What a dick. Find another team to root for in the tournament.

Is it likely based on his last few weeks, no, but anybody who says it couldn't happen is not being realistic on that side.  If DJ hits his first 2 shots and gets energized, maybe by locking down Nitzel, he is capable of carrying this team as he did early in the year.  Then all you need is some complementary performances by a few guys and good D and you win this game

IAmMarquette

Come on now, I'd prefer a little more optimism from my fellow Warrior fans, too, but the man is entitled to his opinion.

I'd be inclined to agree that, to this point, we've finished the (regular) season poorly. The NCAAs are a chance for redemption.

muwarrior87

There's no reason we can't beat MSU w/ or w/o Jerel. They have played very poorly away from home this year and whoever said Wesley isn't showing up is kidding themselves. He quietly scores 20 almost every game and is pretty solid on D. If DJ hits his first couple and makes sure he's leaving the perimeter shooting to David and Fitz, he could have an explosive game, just when we need him to. If you look at his stats excluding 3-point attempts, his numbers are still pretty good, he just needs to move in and hit a midrange jumper over someone instead of taking a bomb. This first round game will be fun to watch and I think Crean will be motivating these boys, nay, men every day this week until we play MSU. Almost everyone on this team has improved mentally and with their game this year and I think we'll see what this team is made of and how well they can play this weekend.

We've had 2 weeks of practice and 3 games without him.  There's no reason they haven't moved on.  I think Cubillan is the best matchup against Neitzel with McNeal out.  My goals for the team this year were to beat Wisconsin and to win a tournament game, so I'll be pretty disappointed if they can't beat a team they really should beat.

If you want to think about next year, just think about our depth if a key injury does occur.  We will have 2 extra guards available and an extra big, assuming nobody gets redshirted.  Plus we will have the senior leadership factor, and our seniors will average far more than 13 minutes per game.

dwaderoy2004

i think you HAVE to put cubillan on neitzel.  neitzel gets most of his shots the way novak used to get most of his shots...running his defender ragged through screens to free himself for a catch and shoot.  we cannot afford to have james tire himself out guarding neitzel all game.  we need him fresh on offense...
