Here's a link to the video's that are played during games at the Bradley Center.

Pretty sweet, Joe's Start Me Up dance is hilarious.

JF definitely has a bright future in film/entertainment.

Would like to see them use the time that they take to record these videos to practice free throws instead.  Just me though...

I think this, as well as most of the images of players dancing on the Jumbotron (especially when we are trailing or playing particularly badly) are pretty goofy.

I'm pretty sure these were all filmed in the summer. I don't think an hour in front of the camera six months ago is hurting the players' free throw percentages right now.

It takes 12,0000 repetitions to perfect a skill.  Shooting free throws isn't really even a basketball skill, it's muscle memory.  You could train a bum off the street to make 90% of his free throw shots in a year.  These kids have been playing organized basketball for the last 10-15 years.  There's no reason that they can't make 80%-90% of their free throws.  If there's a guy (besides O'Tule) who has an excuse for being a poor free throw shooter it's Gardner, as just a massive human being.  He legitimately has the best free throw shot on our team (by the way, if/when we are up in end-of-game situations and we know the other team is fouling, I legitimately would love for Buzz to inbound the ball to him).  If they can't do it now, they should spend their summer hour shooting free throws and getting close to 12,000 repetitions rather than filming a cheesy video for the jumbotron.

Threads like this make me want to ban myself from Scoop.

Maybe the team should stop watching tv, playing video games, listening to music, cleaning their apartment, and just shoot free throws every moment of their free time.

Don't forget going to class. Why bother getting an education when you can shoot free throws all day.

Where'd I say that? They should be able to enjoy their free time...time away from the basketball program. These videos waste time within the basketball program. They get limited time, why waste it filming some lame video when players can't make FTs? If they're required to be at the Al I'd rather they spend their time practicing what they get a free education for, basketball, rather than their acting job. Do theater students go into the theater and play basketball? Maybe they do...

Do you want them to not have the starting lineup video either?  Maybe just replace it with footage of the team shooting free throws with U2 playing?

Uh, I don't believe filming of these videos is considered "practice" by the NCAA, and thus it doesn't waste time that they could have otherwise been using.

Now, could they have been doing something else (studying, partying, sleeping) instead - sure.  But from they looks of it, they actually enjoy making these videos too.  Or at least, they have a good time while filming them - if you've ever seen the out-takes.

We certainly seem to have a few on here that don't understand how hard these guys practice, and that Buzz is using every second available.

Believe me, I completely understand how hard these guys practice and sincerely appreciate how hard they work.  I'm just saying that they're at the Al filming these videos...why not just practice their free throws since some of our players, for whatever reason, struggle with them?  Like I said, it is muscle memory, not even truly a basketball skill.  DJO can stroke it from just about anywhere, yet he can hardly make over 50% standing unguarded with as much time as he needs from 15 feet away?  Really?  There is no doubt these guys work their asses off every day of the weak for the team...I'm just saying, it takes repetition on your own to perfect the skill of shooting a free throw.  If they haven't done so already, I would prefer they get more repetitions in at the free throw line instead of filming these lame videos for the jumbotron.

Do you want them to not have the starting lineup video either?  Maybe just replace it with footage of the team shooting free throws with U2 playing?

No, I want them to have a starting lineup video.  Do they get act stuff out and get filmed for these videos?  If they do, then they do a pretty good acting job because I could SWEAR the clips are from games they actually played in.  Oh crap, they take a still picture of the players too.  That takes a whole lot of the players acting.  I don't understand the point of this post.  The players spend absolutely 0 time in making the intro video.

If free-throw shooting is just muscle memory and not a basketball skill, why do O'Tule and Gardner have an excuse for not being able to hit 80-90% of their FTs?

And BTW, only 36 active NBA players hit 80-90% of their FTs

Because they are massive human beings.  Their hands are huge.  Have you ever tried to shoot a mini basketball?  It's hard to do.  You have a ton less control of the ball.  That's how it is for Gardner and O'Tule with a normal basketball.

I really don't care how many players can do it.  They should be able to all do it.  Watch world record videos for most made free throws in X amount of time.  It's pretty often nerdy looking dudes who certainly aren't taking their time at all.  There's a reason people can make 100s straight.  Muscle memory.  If it was a basketball skill there's no way anybody makes that many straight.  Ever seen anybody make 100 straight baseline jumpers?  I haven't.  But when you have 10 seconds standing alone with nobody guarding you you can make that many in a row.

A study conducted by Dr. Blaslotto at the University of Chicago was done where he split people into three groups and tested each group on how many free throws they could make.

After this, he had the first group practice free throws every day for an hour.

The second group just visualized themselves making free throws.

The third group did nothing.

After 30 days, he tested them again.

The first group improved by 24%.

The second group improved by 23% without touching a basketball!!!!

The third group did not improve which was expected.

Based on this, I think Buzz should have them meditate and visualize free throws for 6 hours a day.  Muscle memory is in the mind.  When the psyche breaks down, so will the free throw form.

Really?  The players spend zero time filming the into video?  And what about the video of the starters?  I suppose the guys always stand around a park in their jerseys posing with a camera man.
