Mark my words. In an average year, who knows, but the bubble looks very kind this year.

Bet the mortgage on that, and you will be homeless.

By the way, how is the 11-7 working out for all the kool aid drinkers?

Please stop. We're not making the NCAAs. This team is toast.

If they win out, I think they have a good chance. If they win four of five, one of which is a win at UCONN, I'd say they might need at least one win in the BE tournament. Win four of five, the loss being to UCONN, they may need two in the tourney.

I still think they have a shot. Tonight would be the first time I'd say they're on the outside looking in this season.

marquette09

If they run the table and finish 11-7 they are in.  I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see this happening.

Mutaman

We haven't lost by more than 12 points all year. That should be worth something.

Arizona made the tourney with a 19-13, 9-9 record in the pac 10 two years ago and still made the tourney and even went to the sweet 16

all you "fans" need to stop hating and giving up hope. Buzz will get them going, we still have games to play yet

flash

They definatley still have a shot, I'm not writing them off just yet.  They do however need to finish 10-8 at least to make it, unlikley but still very possible.  The one good thing about the NIT is that there is a chance they could get another home game.

The saying is bet the house.  Bet the mortgage would be the opposite.  How can you bet a mortgage and be homeless?  I think betting the mortgage would be shorting MU doing well, so if you bet the mortgage on MU doing well you would lose your mortgage and own your home free and clear.  That would be the opposite of what you said.  Moron.

What if it's a reverse mortgage?   ;)

That was with Chase Budinger and Jordan Hill, both of whom are in the NBA now, a high-level point guard in Nic Wise and a freshman who overachieved in Kyle Fogg. Are there any guys on this year's MU roster who will be in the NBA next year, or a high-level point guard on this year's roster, or an underclassmen that overachieved? I frankly didn't think they deserved to make the tournament that year anyways. Where's that leave this year's MU squad? Barring a win at UConn or a run in the BET, this year's team doesn't deserve to make the tourney.
GO WARRIORS!

We might sneak in for our annual first weekend exit.  Winning every game except @UConn might be just enough to take a 10th BE bid instead of Cincy - if the committee is willing to put 10 from one conference in.

Yes, but now we need all of 'em except UConn. It can be done but just got a lot more difficult. I thought we could win the rest except UConn and @ Seton Hall ... well ... now we need to win @ Seton Hall.

We are in trouble, no doubt, but we truly still have a chance for the tourney.  We get in without question in all of the following scenarios.

Win rest of conference play to go 11-7

Win at UConn, win vs. Cincy, go at least 10-8 and win at least one in BET

Lose at UConn, win rest of conference games for 10-8 and win two in the BET

Lose at UConn and at Seton Hall, win rest of conference games for 9-9, and win three in BET

The way this team is playing the above scenarios looks unlikely, but it is doable.

NickelDimer

After watching SH give Nova all they could handle last night I don't see any way we sweep them, especially at thier place on Senior night.

It's illogical to say this team will make the tourney based on how the team is trending.  Our arrow is pointing down.
No Finish Line

drewm88

I guess I should explain myself a little more. I think we go 4-1, dropping one of our road games. I also think we'll take at least one in the BET against a bottom-4 opponent. I think that will be enough to get us in. Even if we lose both of our road games, I don't think we're out necessarily.

If you step outside of the heartbreak of constant blown leads and wouldashouldacoulda's, I think our resume looks better than it might seem.

Losses:
Duke - N (#2 kenpom)
Gonzaga - N (#50)
Wisconsin (#6)
@Vanderbilt (#27)
@Pitt (#5)
@Louisville (#22)
@ND (#17)
UConn (#21)
@Nova (#13)
@Georgetown (#14)
St. Johns (#36)

Wins:
West Virginia (#26)
Syracuse (#15)
Notre Dame (#17)

I look at that and see a team that probably fits in as one of the top 30-50 teams. We are a team that can give anyone a game on any given night and sometimes get the win. We're a team that all season has beaten the teams we definitely should beat. It's been a while since we stepped up and beat a team better than us, but it's been more recent and more frequent than the loss to Gonzaga, which I would argue is our only loss to a team we are better than.

There are 68 bids available. 31 are auto. Take those 31 winners away, and I think we will be one of the 37 best remaining candidates come 3/13.

4everwarriors

4 and 1 hey? Have you watched our team play lately?
"Give 'Em Hell, Al"

PE8983

There is absolutely no way we go 4-1 with the way we're playing.  I don't think that's going to change 26 games into the season.  We lose because of our defense, and nothing you do now is going to rectify that.
