Is a program that with what Lavin has coming in on the recruiting trail is going to be right in the thick of it for Big East titles again. They outhustled MU, were quicker and more athletic, and were better coached. Just a better team right now and I don't see how that changes moving forward.

NersEllenson

Pretty sure that when you lose a starting lineup that features 4 seniors and 7 total seniors who are major contributors..there will be a few growing pains for SJU the next couple of years - even though they have talented recruits next year..
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

They certainly look like a better team - beat as at our own game tonight.  St Johns is back.  While thats good for the BEast, its tough when you're fighting them on the bubble.  St Johns will only move farther off the bubble as the last few weeks of this season tick away.  Good for them and good for Lavin, but tough to swallow tonight.

Not to say St. John's dominates next year but their recruits are really awesome. Great mix of guys who can contribute in many ways. Nuri, Harrison, Pointer, Polee, ??? is beast SL with Harkless, Pelle off the bench. ???? Should be filled by Juco.

correct me if i'm wrong... but i thought i noticed that in a majority of their huddles, lavin wasn't the coach doing the talking. the players all seemed to be focused/listening to another guy. is this is "strategist" that was talked about in the other topic?

That was Dunlap and this was probably the most injected I've seen him this season in the huddle. Dunlap is responsible for the defensive schemes as well.

Impressive and worthy of the hype you've gotten this season. Tough night for MU fans but St Johns is a team I would root for any night we don't play them.

Skatastrophy

That was a pretty wicked press they ran.  They made our shooting-guard-as-a-point-guard look silly.

Great job by a resurgent team.  Best of luck to the Johnnies the rest of the year, though they won't need it if they can keep up that kind of intensity (sans the waning minutes of the 1st half).

Nah.  Its nights like tonight I just kind of chuckle as if "finally, everyone else is seeing what I've been seeing for a long time" so I just let everyone else get their frustrations out.  It's other nights when I want to scratch my eyeballs out because of all the excuses and such.

Legit tourney team who's game is all coming together at the right time of the season.  I wish the same can be said about our team.
