Some just don't get it
« on: February 14, 2011, 11:00:08 PM »
As I listened to another student b*tch about how we lose so many close games I thought about this.....

I know it's been mentioned, but JFB, DJO, Buycks, Fulce are really the only players that got major playing time last year on our current roster, or rather the only players that actually did get playing time. (not counting the Junior Cadougan post red-shirt limited action)

On campus, I feel students are just darn right spoiled. They came to this school hearing of Dwayne Wade and all that jazz, but current Marquette seniors don't even know what the NIT is. We have been to the tournament every year.

Students don't appreciate that Buzz is on the fast track to being one of the better coaches around.

Students don't appreciate the solid recruiting classes that have come in, and are continuing next year.

Students don't appreciate where our players came from, especially guys like Jae, DJO, and Dwight that were passed on by NCAA coaches out of high school, and some even out of Junior College until a guy named Buzz came calling.

Students don't appreciate Vander Blue and what he means to this team and what he WILL mean to this team. I saw his defense against Duke. While not an offensive force just yet, believe me this team is better because he is here.

Students don't appreciate that while we have lost a lot of close games, we have played toe to toe with the likes of Duke, UW, Pitt, and ND (even beating ND at home) - and those are just the names we have played in this week's top ten.

All I have to say is get your butts to the BC tomorrow students. We need this win real bad if we want to be dancing in March. Time to wake up and be fans.

A lot of fans are lacking context for sure.

I guess it is better than apathy.  We do have a passionate fanbase who is not going to settle.

If people are going to criticize Buzz, people just need to cite specific things.  Should Buzz sub X person in, should Buzz run the picket fence in an out of bounds play, etc.  Most of it is just venting which is not useful.

Things are on the up, and a passionate fanbase who is not going to settle might actually be a good thing.

If this is what a guy does with 2 true recruiting classes, and one last minute recruiting class, then look out.  Many good things to come.
