Going along with a DJO cheer... As soon as I saw that his initials were DJO, I instantly thought Rufio from the movie Hook...  So after a DJO basket, I thought someone yelling out "DJO-DJO... D-J -OHHHHHH" (with the rest of the crowd joining in on OH, similar to Rufio chant in Hook) would be pretty awesome...

This is exactly what i thought: DJO DJO  D-J-O...  and then he rides in on the bow and arrow skateboard!

Can someone tell me the name of the song they play at the BC early in the game.... waoh oh oh oh oh ohhhh, repeat....  Listen to this for melody of what it sounds like..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWIUJLoQ2HY

from 0:00 to 0:18 seconds, not whatever is after 0:18...

Why not do this cheer rather than just yelling OHHHH every once and a while?  You can still jump and yell ohhh but it is actually syncronized.

Yes.

MU was the first to use it (it's a staple at every sporting event now).

That video was Seven Nation Army. MU plays the remix of it that the Bucks use.

Zombie Nation is this one- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6hIQiDkz6s&feature=related (go to the 0:20 mark).

Oops.  I didn't listen to it either.  My work blocks youtube so I was just going off the description.

Thanks MUFan, it is Seven Nation Army. The students should use it more as a syncronized chant.

"The song is also very popular in European soccer stadiums even becoming the anthem of the the Italians' world cup win in 2006 and of the Euro 2008.[9]"

Ooopps.  Nevermind.  Should we stop playing it then?  DJO do you puke when you hear it?

So, very similar to the Rufio chant...

The season ticket holder that sits behind me started doing this last night:

Every time DJO launches a 3 he yells:  D!  J!

And when it goes in he's already set up for the:  Ohhhhhhhhhhhh!

It was brilliant :)

Is there anyway they could stop calling it "the best student section in the country"? They should just say, "And the 6th Man of the Golden Eagles. The Marquette student section!" When they call it the best and there are 46 students there like last night, it's almost as embarassing as the big noggin of the game.

mark this in the category of things you will never see in the MU student section: http://www.totalprosports.com/2011/02/08/kansas-fans-perform-flash-mob-dance-at-mens-basketball-game-video/

did they really? surprised that they would even solicit the attempt to have a flash mob.

Get ready for another pathetic attempt by MU students to find its way on Youtube, with most of us finding it shameful and embarrassing and about two people thinking it's "cool".

Looking at the tweet again, they actually retweeted and posed a question to MU followers:

"Pretty sweet...Any suggestions from the Twitterverse? RT @matthewfjohnson: KU game flash mob (video url)- Can we top this at #mubb?"

So I guess they didn't directly ask students to do something, rather did a "What do you guys think?" response.

I'm a sophomore currently, and I have no problem with the volume of the students, for the most part. This may be because I'm generally in the main, lower center section which is basically the direction in which all other students yell.

But the lack of original cheers is pretty grotesque, particularly for a school that only has one popular sport. The pregame Thunderstruck arm waving seems to be original (correct me if I'm wrong), but other than that, everything is borrowed. A bit of that is fine, but an original chant is needed.

And opposing free throw tactics are DEFINITELY needed. If the BC reps would properly distribute the BigNoggins to fans behind the backboard, and there were more BigNoggins that spun/were hypnotic in some way, that would work. If not, Cameron Indoor type antics really should not be difficult to facilitate. It sucks in some respects that the BC is a crackerbox like Cameron Indoor, though, because the separation of students hurts communication, and the easiness to purchase tickets to every game doesn't separate fans from idiots.

RyanConroy

Also, what happened to the Solid Gold's (the pregame newsletter distributed to students) Dog House section? That crap was hilarious, and easily the best part of that publication.

For those who are unaware, it basically pointed out arrests/other controversies that the opposing teams faced. Best of all, it was, apparently, actually sponsored by Dog Haus.
