figured I'd share the info here for everybody, too.

Looking at the last 4 years on Pomeroy, here's where the Final 4 teams have ranked in experience ...

Champs
10 - Duke - 70
09 - NC - 60
08 - KU - 50
07 - Flor - 103 (surprised, thought that would be higher with all the guys that came back from the 06 title team)

Runners-up
10 - Butler - 177 (also surprised, figured a mid-major would be more experienced making it, but then again Gordon Hayward wasn't your typical mid-major underclassman)
09 - MSU - 208
08 - Memphis - 197
07 - tOSU - 276

Other Final Four teams
10 WVU - 147 , MSU - 205
09 nova - 63 , UConn - 34
08 UNC -205 , UCLA - 229
07 Gtown - 272 , UCLA - 294

MU this year ranks 140 BTW. Not sure without thinking about it real hard if it would be possible to figure out where they'll be next year. I'm guessing no.

Summary to me seems to be that you can make the Final 4 with talent without ideal experience. Winning the whole enchilada requires both. With Buzz's presumed recruiting acumen and recruiting history to this point, I'd say the talent over experience path seems more likely at this point.

Teams in the top 103 in experience (last four champs) that are in the top 23 in Pomeroy (MU currently 24th) are the following - KU, Rodents, SD State, nova, WV, Gtown and ND.

Current experience ratings of top 4 teams in Pomeroy - tOSU - 228, UT - 251, KU - 103, Duke - 211.

GGGG

Eye, how is this stat calculated?  For instance, the Florida repeat champion may not have had a great deal of experience from 1-13, but their starting lineup certainly did...as did their scoring.

Is it calculated simply on the number of years per player, or do they calculate minutes in there somewhere.

Also, what do they do with JUCO transfers like Jae?

Eye

Good question Sultan. Not sure when I'd have time to do the additional research. Had a day off today to get to it, may not have one of those again for a while.
