Our team is solid. Ul was a fluke and nd... We will make up for it

It seems like we have been having a lot of these "fluke" losses.   Its not a fluke, They can't play with a lead, and if they are not making their 3's, you can turn the game off.

I think the team is learning how to play together.  Jimmy and djo are struggling with leadership. Good news is that we are in a better position than last year at the same time.  We just need to hold the leads and win.
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

5 point plan:

1.  Guard Kemba Walker.
2.  Guard Kemba Walker.
3.  Guard Kemba Walker.
4.  Block our Oriakhi.
5.  Play a full 40 minutes of good basketball for a change.

Unless UConn shows up at Storrs thinking the game is there, we have no shot.

mviale

They lost to Pitt by 15 and nd.  We clobbered nd and played closer at Pitt.

UConn struggled to beat USF on their home court if I recall correctly.  We will never shut Kemba Walker down completely but if we can just contain him, I like our chances.  Buzz has used the Box and 1 a couple of times this year, I think we may see this on Tuesday.

I watch UConn a lot.  They truly play to the level of their opponent.  I watched them trail at halftime to New Hampshire and Vermont.  If they come to Milwaukee thinking this one's in the bag, we've got a great chance.  If they come ready to play, we better be hitting our threes or else no shot.

We also lost to ND.
maybe this one is in the bag for us!

...."They lost to Pitt by 15 and nd.  We clobbered nd and played closer at Pitt"....

I don't know who will win this game, but I DO know that comparing like opponents is probably one of the most useless and inaccurate ways to assess a games possible outcome. Teams never play the same way twice, neither do their opponents. If it was an accurate barometer for comparing teams, how do you explain winning and losing to the same team in the same season? We lost @ Pitt by 15, and lost @ ND by 3.....then ND beats Pitt. Does the fact that our game with ND was much closer than our game with Pitt now mean that we were better than our 15 point loss to Pitt? No. It still means we got smoked on their home court.

In my opinion, past performances have no bearing on future performances....that is, assuming we're not talking about an obvious mis-match, which MU - UConn isn't.

What are your thoughts?

You forgot about guarding Kemba Walker.  I think that's important.

You may not have noticed the Vegas line on this game has MU -4.  I like our chances for a win tonight.  Oriaki is the guy I worry about.

But that team had a really bad coach at the helm

But Chico, UCONN hasn't changed coaches

Think you are 100% right.  The exercise of comparing common opponents really isn't that illuminating..but just something fans do to try to get some insight into how two teams may do against one another...even though there really isn't anything concrete that can be correlated.

Should be a good game tonight..I haven't looked at the line - but I'd guess it can't be much more than UCONN by 3 or 4?

Jim Calhoun didn't coach that game, he was out on medical leave. George Blaney coached the game last year. So technically, yes, they have changed coaches.
