Mike Brey (ND coach) said Marquette fans bought 1,000 tickets for Sat. game.  Trying to rally ND faithful

I'll be there.  Who else?

Anyone who has been around here for any length of time knows of my efforts to turn the Bradley center green when ND plays in Milwaukee. (However, you may not be aware of my efforts to protect our home turf -- I've organized busses from MKE for ND fans, working with the alumni office to buy up any unused tickets before they could be made available to MU through a general public sale. I did NOT do this this year) This year, I was responsible for getting over 250 tickets into the hands of ND fans for that turd of a game on the 10th. Every year, I've invited Coach Brey to meet with the Milwauke ND Club (Like Digger used to do annually)briefly before or after the game to help increase the bond between team and fanbase. Every year, he has an excuse on why they can't do it. When we came to ND with a busload two years ago we asked to meet with him and the team. He graciously sent Martin Inglesby to talk to us for 10 minutes in The Pit.

I realize that, outside of a core group of loyal fanatics, our fans are largely apathetic towards our hoops team, and the majority of accountability lies with us. However, he sure as hell doesn't help the situation with his seeming lack of interest in working with ND Clubs and/or other parts of the university to drum up support.

Love that.

Brey sounds like a REAL supportive coach!
Maybe he needs to take some lessons from the great II,II on how to massage the fanbase!

pretty weak (and typically ND) to expect/feel entitled to a personal meet and greet with the coach just because you got your ass to a game a couple hours away though.

Mr. Nielsen

Notre Dame basketball fans suck. Many games only have 6,000 at their games.
I love that fact that over 1,000 MU fans will be at the game. I hope they bring the noise.
If we are all thinking alike, we're not thinking at all. It's OK to disagree. Just don't be disagreeable.

+1

Their are 1,000 MU fans going to the game tonight.  How many are getting their at 3:30 for a meet and greet with Buzz and the team?  I would guess nearly zero.  How many MU fans feel entitled to a meet and greet with Buzz because they traveled a few hours to an away game.  Again I would argue nearly zero.

FYI - I'm going and I don't feel entitled nor do I expect one.

MUDPT

I will be there with 7 others, 6 MU fans and one ND grad student (grrr).  But he is allowing us to sleep at his house.

Actually, it isn't out of the ordinary to throw a bone to the head of an alumni club in a road city if they get a good showing at the game. I've seen it happen many times.

I'd rather my coach be focusing on the game than meeting fans.  Brey is absolute right not to meet with those clowns.
