Is there any chance Jamil could red shirt? Or has he played in to many games or minutes?

GGGG

Jamil Wilson is redshirting.

Jamail Jones cannot because he played in a game.  The only time when the "too many games" thing comes to be a factor is when you are dealing with a "medical redshirt."

Make it easier on everybody: JamAil Jones. JamIl Wilson. I'm not the spelling bee Nazi here but it is the kid's name.

I say just stick with last names. The first names will trip you up...no way you'll go wrong with last names there :)

Appreciate the dramatic pause, but that was just excessive.

Or if you use Ox, everybody will recognize who you are referring to.

To answer your question--not as of now.

He has already appeared in a game.  As soon as Jones checked in against Prairie View A&M, his year of eligibility was used.

He could apply for a waiver, subject to two conditions:
in team sports, the injury or illness occurs when the student-athlete has not participated in more than three contests or dates of competition (whichever is applicable to that sport) or 30 percent (whichever number is greater) of the in- stitution's scheduled or completed contests or dates of competition in his or her sport.

MU is scheduled to appear in 32 games (18 conference, 13 non-conference, and 1 for the BET).  30% of 32 games is 9.6--rounded up to 10.  Jones has appeared in 9 games, so he meets this criteria.

The second criteria is that the injury must occur before the start of the second half of the season.

The injury or illness occurs prior to the first competition of the second half of the playing season that concludes with the NCAA championship in that sport (see Bylaw 14.2.4.3.4) and results in incapacity to compete for the remainder of that playing season.

The first game of the 2nd half of the season will be Monday night, at Notre Dame.

So to address your questions--Jones could still get a medical waiver--but only if he suffers a season ending injury or illness before tomorrow's tipoff.
