Harrison

I said it before the year started and while they have performed better than expected our front court was again our undoing.  We have without a doubt the worst front court in the BE.  Cannot defend ..zero strength and poor quickness.  Cannot rebound unless the ball comes directly to them and then have poor hands.  offensively almost no ability whatsoever.  Good season overall but it is really unfortunate, put a few adequate bigs on this team and they are a solid top 10 pushing top 5 team.  Heck I would take a guy like Spears or Kurz or Heard or Thompson, guys that are 2nd or 3rd or 4th option bigs on their teams would be like the Messiah for this team.  Simply amazing.  Lott's performance could absolutely not have been any worse he literally made a mental or physical mistake at every end that hurt the team, made two or three trips each time and Crean had to take him out.  Barro is adequate some nights woeful others and it simply plummets from there.  Put Spencer Tollacson on this team or a Kyle Visser and we are a 2 seed.

Pakuni

Where will Spencer Tollackson and Kyle Visser be spending their March?

The front court wasn't good tonight. However, they're not nearly bad as you claim.
And for a bunch of guys who don't rebound, it's amazing how Marquette finished 6th in rebounding margin (+1.7 per game) in conference play, second on offensive rebounds and Barro ranked 9th in the conference in boards (2nd in offensive rebounds). Either he's extremely fortunate to have the ball coming directly to him so often, or he can board a bit.
Methinks you're taking tonight's loss a tad bit hard and exaggerating MU's weakness upfront. It is clearly the team's weakness, but it's not as bleak as you suggest.

ChicosBailBonds

True tonight...I guess that's why Pittsburgh had beaten us 3 straight coming into this game...oh wait.

;)

Good to see Roney Eford tonight in the house.  Peter Haubold also.

TJ

Did you watch any of the Louisville - West Virginia game at all tonight?  West Virginia's bigs were absolutely terrible all game long.  Making unilateral claims with no proof is fun and all, but there's no way we have the worst frontcourt in the Big East.  At the very least, there's definitely some doubt as to that claim.

And another thing - it's a team sport.  Some teams win with guards, some teams win with frontcourt play, some teams have a nice balance, and many teams lose with the same combinations.  There is no one way to win at college basketball - bigs or guards.  Either can be successful.

MUFanInGreenBay

Yeah there is a way to win. It is called with BOTH strong frontcourt and backcourt play. Just take a look at every team that wins the national championship every year. They have both elements and they're very good in both areas. We're good in one area and are completely nonexistent in another. That's why were a solid team and not a great team.

Thomas' Danish Delight

While I agree that we have a weak front court, I wouldn't go so far as to declaring them the WORST in the BE.  I'm sure Rutgers or Cincinnati have worse front courts.

Yes, it is a team sport and I agree with TJ in that teams win/lose with back/front/both courts, but I'm pretty sure we'd be much better off with a quality big man to relieve the guards of scoring duty, to guard the Grays and Hibberts, and to draw double teams and allow more opportunities for the hella three pointers we throw up.

I wish Ousmane would gain like 30 lbs.

harrison is one of the most outlandish exaggerators on the board, i though you knew that? he's just staying consistent with his posts

RawdogDX

I don't even bother to read harrison's posts.  Let me guess this proved that it isn't a guards game.  Even though obviously it proved that it IS a guards game.  Our guards played badly and we lost.
Oh and he probably threw some shot in there at crean who he found ways to bash after the last two wins and give credit to players, then switch that credit to the coach after a loss.  If harrison was a wwf villian people would have stopped booing because his act has gotten so boring.
