Tommy Crean Corn finally plays DI Team and Gets Popped
« on: December 02, 2010, 11:54:41 AM »
Chicas favorite coach finally played a team form a school recognized by more than their alumni and got popped.  This is just the beginning for the can of corn coach.  Crean and Its Indiana will be the cellar dweller of the Big Ten again.  Is this his final season?  IU fans say so on the boards there.
In heaven Marquette always beats Wisconsin

Then I hope IU fans like getting the coach from whatever midmajor does the best in the NCAA tournament, because they're not going to pay anyone huge money while owing Crean $15 milion.

I generally avoid all the Crean back and forth like the plague, but have you seen the recruiting haul Crean has landed the past few weeks??? He will be there a while no matter what happens this year. If they aren't in the Top 15 over the next few years something is seriously wrong.

Crean has one of the top 5 classes in the country coming in next year.   As long as progress is shown and there is no scandal, he is going to be there for a while.   BTW, being a hater is every bit as annoying as being a sycophant.  And if you really paid attention to their board and to their program instead of just spewing anti-Crean blather, this is not the criticism you would be using.

No, he doesn't.  If you want to talk about 2012-2014, that's fine.. but those are years down the road.  Next year they've got, what?  Very good prospect in Cody Zeller.. and a 6'6" shooter in his AAU teammate Etherington... nowhere near top 5.  (or 20)
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

Zeller will have more pressure on him than any freshman in the nation next season.

He needs at least 5 years before he can be evaluated.

5-32

The question becomes does he reach double digits in career big ten victories this year or next year or the year after?

Crean Corn?

That might be the weakest pun to come out of this board since referring to Bucky as Becky

IndyStar story after Zeller signing said the current thinking is that Crean was hired to shut down the borders, and it appears he's done that. Nine of 10 recruits over next four years are Hoosier State hoopsters:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/526878-destination-bloomington-crean-secures-another-five-star-recruit-for-iu

In-state recruiting clearly is very important to Big Ten (or-however-many) schools. Check the heartburn over in Madison when Vander came to MU.

If Crean's in-state recruits don't do a lot better than IU is doing now, then perhaps there's be some real noise about how long he will last.

Hey, we needed some clutch free throws to win our first road game. It's not that easy. No surprise a young team loses their first test away from home. Curious to see how we'll handle it in Nashville.

Besides, why care about Crean when there's enough to worry about in our own clubhouse?

Dutchman still hasn't paid off the bet he made with me.

This is the same guy that said West Coast football in college sucks (ahem...two of the top 4 teams in football are from the Pac Ten)....the guy who said Notre Dame would be Stanford, etc.

Look, as much as he would like to see Crean get fired, this clown is absolutely out of his mind.  He's just doing this for effect...it's dumb...whatever.   He's at IU for many years to come.  They will struggle again this year mostly because the top of the Big Ten is loaded, they will certainly be a better basketball team this year but whether that translates to wins is another story.

For the record, Tom Crean wouldn't make my list of favorite coaches if you went 25 deep, but don't let that get in your way either.

Chicos... bud... again, I'm not saying this because of your username.. what the EFF does Marquette's 2011 class have to do with this?  Some guy makes a false claim and I corrected him.  About another school, in the Superbar.. so see through.

When I see "not even close" it sounds like you were ripping that class (perhaps you weren't but judging by history....).  I was pointing out, as this is a MU board, that the MU class of 2011 isn't ranked either in the top 5 or top 25 for that matter.

To be clear, I was pointing out that calling I4's 2011 class a top 5 class was ridiculous - that's it.  To make that point, I indicated how far off it was (i.e., not even a top 20).

There is a board to talk about Marquette basketball.. this is the Superbar.  Don't worry, I wouldn't expect anything else from you.  See through.
