That would be awesome.  Hopefully the BE looks into something like this before bringing in schools like UCF, Houston, or ECU.

Football
East: Connecticut, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, South Florida, Rutgers

West: Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Cincinnati, TCU, Missouri or ISU

Basketball
If electing to go with a two division format it breaks down to 11 v 9 geographically so one of the basketball only teams from the East likely plays a bit out of whack.  The possibility would still be there to play a full 20 team round robin if approved.

East: Connecticut, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, South Florida, Rutgers, Providence, Villanova, St. Johns, Seton Hall, Georgetown

West: Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Cincinnati, TCU, Missouri(or ISU), Notre Dame, Marquette, Depaul

Whether we go to 18 or 20 basketball schools, I really think a 2-division setup is the wrong way to go. I think either three divisions of 6 teams (with 18) or 4 divisions of 5 teams (with 20). If it's 18, you play all your divisional foes home-and-home for 10 games, then 8 games against the other divisions. If it's 20, they may want to consider a 20-game schedule, home-and-homes in division for 8 games, then 4 games against the other three divisions. Here's my division thoughts if we brought in Kansas (for 18), and then adding K-State and UCF (for 20).

Big East Coastal: Connecticut, Syracuse, Rutgers, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall
Big East Central: West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Villanova, Georgetown, South Florida, Cincinnati
Big East Inland: Marquette, DePaul, Louisville, Notre Dame, TCU, Kansas

Or for a 20-team option...

Big East North: Connecticut, Syracuse, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John's
Big East East: West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Providence, Villanova, Georgetown
Big East South: South Florida, Central Florida, TCU, Louisville, Cincinnati
Big East West: Marquette, Kansas, Kansas State, Notre Dame, DePaul

Of course, the problem here is that you have some discrepancies in terms of divisional strength. For the 18-team format, you have three regular powerhouse teams in the Coastal, four in the Central, and four in the Inland, not so bad (especially with St. John's and Seton Hall looking like up-and-comers). But the 20-team option...yowza. The North, East, and West are all very strong. Fifteen teams, of which you would routinely expect 10 or so to make the NCAA tournament. Then the South, where really only Louisville is a perennial, but Cincy would probably join them considering the weak field. I don't know what the best answer is, but trying to balance two divisions just doesn't seem to work. I really think three to four divisions is the way to go. And keep the Big East tournament at 16 teams regardless.

I would love to see the 4 division format mentioned above just so that there can be a division named The Big East East.

The interesting thing about this is the utter disatisfaction that the remaining B12 schools have with their current situation.  A significant number of TAMU fans wish they would have accepted the SEC's offer.  Oklahoma would probably rather be their too except they are tied to the fate of Okie State.  Kansas fans now want to find a way out.  Mizzou would sell their sould for a B10 invite.

Interestingly, you don't see schools wanting to leave the SEC, B10 or Pac 12.

I think anything can happen in the Big 12, with Texas running the show.

KU football so rarely does much in the Big 12, it might be to their benefit to head to the Big East.  Their basketball program following makes a Big East network sales pitch more likely to work on the Great Plains.

Devil's advocate here. At what point does the Big East become so strong in basketball that MU cannot compete? So far in good years we have been a 4th or 5th place team. Adding Kansas, Kansas St and MO will send us further down the pecking order.

Kansas would obviously bump us down a notch in the BE pecking order, and that's OK.  But I think we can hold our own against Mizzou and K-State.  Our recent history against Mizzou is pretty even ('03 & '09), and while K-State has been good the past few years, I'm not sure how long they'll maintain this level.
