Your post -- "UW hyphen M is really bad" -- showed a surprising lack of good judgment and respect, ChicosBailBonds.

Bad form, brother, bad form.

You might want to yank the entire thread now.

That's one way of looking at the last 10 minutes...

GGGG

I suggest this for a thread title:  "We Suck"

Good news:

-Stud DJO breaks out of slump
-We hit our free throws at the end...four by JFB...two by DJO

Bad news:

-We simply cannot rebound
-For those who wanted Erik Williams...he is still a complete defensive liability.
-Junior didnt do much to distinguish himself
-Our shooting sucked in the second half.  Our offense looked completely lost at times.

A lot of work to do before BE season.

I wouls like to nominate MUAvenue for the most worthwhile thread ever.  Really, this will be awesome.

BS, they are not good....shows you how pathetic we were tonight.  Absolutely PATHETIC

UW-m got routed at home the other day by Western Michigan...double digits and we beat them by 3.  They got destroyed by Florida Atlantic (9 points)..we just won by 3.   They lost by TWENTY to Portlant...we just beat them by 3.

Yes, they are bad and we have A LONG LONG LONG way to go right now.

OMG!!!

That was far too stressful of a game, much more than it ever should have been.  McCullen was their DJO, he was unstoppable!! Wow, are we lucky to have such solid FT shooting at the very end.  7 for 8.  Wow.  We lucked out I think.

We just seem like we are going through the motions

Spaniel with a Short Tail

Didn't see the second half - what's with the rebounding margin!?!  ?-(

I didn't think it was a poorly played game.  I do have a bit of a hard time with the approach MU is taking on defense.  They are so aggressive, well out past the three point line, that they get beat off the dribble and then they have difficult help assignments that result in impossible switches and recoveries.

Clam Crowder

We did this last year too against Depaul. We got cocky, we played cocky and we paid the consequences. Jimmy and DJO showed what they learned last year being clutch at the end, and we got it done. Is anyone happy? No. But a win is a win. Buycks or Cadougan, well 0 for 2 tonight both looked awful. Vander was okay, nothing spectacular. As for E-Will being a defensive liability, our whole team looked like a defensive liability. WE NEED A HEALTHY OX! End of Story.

Lol stop trying to back your topic up so much.  They're not a BAD team.  Are they great?  Of course not.  They have some nice players and were playing pretty well (making shots).  We got complacent after the lead and they made some nice runs.  You're acting like they don't even know how to play basketball or something....I mean come on they were making shots, and we were not playing well in the second half.  It happens.

ChicosBailBonds, your post -- "UW hyphen M is really bad" -- was surprisingly arrogant and silly from the start, but it now looks absurd given the outcome of the Marquette-UWM game.

It also makes all who are Marquette look like dopes.

We won 75-72. Translated: We almost lost.

Whatever your feelings about Marquette's or UWM's basketball team, the score is the score: Marquette by three over a "really bad" team.

Your post makes Marquette and those connected to it look foolish. You do not see this?

ChicosBailBonds

Are they good?  Of course they aren't great...are they even good?  Portland, Florida Atlantic, Western Michigan will say no.

Look, I'm not saying we suck, we don't.  We just play dumb basketball, terrible defense, terrible rebounding.  With the talent MU has, with a MU contingent that the announcers said made up half the fans there (only about 8,000 fans in total), this should have been a laugher.

We didn't look good against South Dakota, looked terrible tonight, didn't look good against Gonzaga either.

We have a long way to go.  When I wrote the thread, MU was on it's way to a 40 point win, then we decided we would just cruise and play stupid.  If MU played like they're capable, they would shot UW-m to be as bad as they are.

Actually those teams would say that UWM is good, otherwise their wins wouldn't look very impressive.

Duke beat MU by 5 but beat K-State by 14. Using your logic, MU is probably better than the 4th-ranked team in the country, right? It's all about margin of victory!

From the guy who loves the Golden Eagles nickname....you made me laugh a little bit with that one.

One thing is certain .. student support of UWM was pretty craptacular.

UWM's huge student section:

The Mecca was maybe 70% full .. lots of empties .. pockets of MU fans, pockets of UWM fans.  Hard to tell who had more fans there, really.

When UWM had their run at the end of the game, the stadium was decently loud for UWM.

cheebs09

Just some general comments from the game. I was somewhat surprised by the low attendance. Many students live in a close enough range of the school that I was surprised they didn't have more people there. It wasn't a large student section to fill and they have over 20 thousand kids that go there I believe. Also, basically both end zones were empty which was surprising. I just figured there might have been more people there since UWM finally got their home game.

Also, for as much bellyaching as their fans do about people not referring to them as Milwaukee, but rather UWM or other variations of that, I was surprised to see the ads around the Arena that showed UWMilwaukee and their students even chanted "UWM". They can't really get all bent out of shape for other people calling them that when their own students use that as a chant.

As for the game, I was disappointed, especially once we got up 27-11. I thought this would be the game we broke out of the funk, especially with DJO coming out hot early. We just seem to play a great five minutes in each half and then our brains just shut off at times. I want to be positive and say at least we were tested and it will help in the future, but I feel I've said that too many times already this season. Although it is still a win so I will be happy about that and hope we improve for the next game. I think we are beginning to see just how special Lazar was on the inside and how great he was despite being only 6'6" (if he was even that tall).
