I want us to win and will be glued to the set and for today they are evil and must be detroyed, but.........
Their fans have earned their arrogance.  National champs with a great freshman and a ton of returning talent.   Yeah, I would be arrogant too.   In my dreams, Buzz lasts as long and is as successful as K.  A private school with no football team ( ;D  Yes, I know there is a team but they are so bad), high school 5 stars falling over themselves to play there, only the occasional whiff of untowardness (Magette)(not bad for a 30 year run), when they have a 'down' year, they pull it together and bounce back, if they don't go to the NBA early, they graduate.   In short, I would love for our program to be as successful as theirs.    I know they get the calls.   Aggressive, winning teams usually do.   So, for today, they suck, I hate them, may they burn in hell after we stomp them.    But long term, I think they are the benchmark our program should aspire to.

Wanting a successful program in the same vein that Duke does it is all well and good.
I do understand your point.  However, I don't know that anyone can "earn their arrogance" in anything.

I hope that we maintain our sense of humbleness and good sportsmanship in victory tonight and tomorrow.   ;D
I'm like a turtle, sometimes I get run over by a semi.

"We're both trying to get double-doubles every night," Irving said. "We can definitely do it on this team, (with) the amount of weapons we have on this team. We're always in competition with one another."

Look where they get their "earned arrogace" from.  If that's not bulletin board material, I don't know what is.

Besides the university is not middle of the road.

After Buzz, Coach K is my favorite coach and can only hope that Buzz builds the program like the one thats been at Duke -or at least close to it-. I can't speak towards their fans. But I know Al loved them.

Skatastrophy

I always root for private schools except for when we're playing them.  Duke put in the time and effort to get their program where it is today without having 50k undergrads enrolled to bankroll anything they want to do.  Good on them :)

Why?  He didn't say anything negative about any opponents, just that he and an unnamed teammate are both trying to score 10 points and get 10 assists or rebounds every game.

I enjoy rooting against Dook as much as the next guy, but I don't see a reason to paste the quote you gave on a bulletin board.

TJ,

Point 1) If I'm a player and I ready that quote from Kyrie, I am putting it in the locker room for motivation.  Nothing negative said about any other team.  Just bulletin board material for their opponents.  In tonight's case: Us.

Point 2) When players of a team are brimming with confidence and the team's success is all but guaranteed or expected on an annual basis, I'd aruge that affords the fanbase some level of arrogance.  Just as Tower912 intimated.

1) It might make me want to step up my game and try to stop him from getting a double-double, but it's not like it's trash-talk or anything like that.  I'm not getting fired up and pissed off because a great player tells a reporter that his goal is to be great every game.  Bulletin board material should be more controversial than that.

2) I didn't argue for or against their arrogance.  I'm not going to argue that the defending champion and #1 team has no reason to be somewhat arrogant.
