Just a blurb from an article about Enes Kanter's draft prospects, but I guess Vander filling up the stat sheet isn't impressing anyone yet.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/blog?name=nba_draft&id=5824582

"On Tuesday we discussed how a number of freshmen were doing in their first game or two of the season. We could've listed more. Tristan Thompson of Texas, Brandon Knight of Kentucky, Kendall Marshall of North Carolina, Tim Hardaway Jr. of Michigan and Tobias Harris of Tennessee all have looked good in the early going, as well.
A few others, like Vander Blue of Marquette, Cory Joseph of Texas, Ray McCallum of Detroit and Will Barton of Memphis, had so-so starts."

GGGG

He must only be looking at stats because I think Vander has looked real good so far.

Chad Ford is a member of the Spanish O'Donnells.

TallTitan34

Chad Ford is evil and must be destroyed.

And he has an agenda...a traditional one at that

JustinLewisFanClubPres

Isn't Chad Ford one of those pundits who believes the key to understanding basketball can only be reached through figures that are entered into a spreadsheet?  If so, I wonder how he quantifies lock down defense on the perimeter when evaluating individual players.

The Lens

Chad Ford wears his ties long, likes his glasses tinted, trashes hotel rooms and plays the piano.
The Teal Train has left the station and Lens is day drinking in the bar car.    ---- Dr. Blackheart

I will bet you he has not even seen Blue play yet.

mugrad99

Chad Ford is not the Josh Gasser of sportswriting, that's for sure.

MUONTOP

"so-so" is being taken too negatively...he may just be looking at stats but even without a break out in any particular area by Vander, I think its a tremendous compliment to have a mainstream media outlet with an east coast bias recognize Vander is contributing, especially because most of those contributions haven't truly been reflected in the stat sheet (more so in the stuff Buzz keeps track of)

Neither have a lot of MU fans because of TimeWarner's BS deal with Marquette.

For some reason the internet has translated sayings such as "so-so" and "decent" into being negative connotations.
“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

Decent post, for such a so-so member of the site.

It was mediocre, at best.

I read "so-so" as equally good and bad.  Reading it that way, I would say Mr. Ford is mistaken because Vander has had many more positive plays than negative plays in my mind.

And I read it that way long before the Internet. ;)

SacWarrior

I bet Ford wrote an article about how great Chirstopherson and Gasser are. I would have.

I recently wrote a 2000-word paper in my Contemporary American Heroes class about Josh Gasser. I had to cut it down from almost 4500

RawdogDX

If you say that he's looked so-so FOR a guy hoping to be good enough to be a first round pick after one year, I think that would be a compliment.  It's like saying he's a mediocre part of the cream of the crop.

Next time your wife asks how she looks, say "so-so" and let me know how that works out for ya!

when we're not calling each other hypocrites, liars, etc., the MUScoop crowd can be pretty funny. example: this thread

Dr. Blackheart

Chad Ford is legendary and dime a dozen at the same time.  His girth surpasses even Trevor Mkbwake's.  He tapes his ankles and does shots of Listerine daily.
