Monday's home opener drew 4083, the lowest for an opener in 22 years. How the mighty have fallen. Have to go a long way back to find a MU figure that low.

groove

yeah, the rapists had drawing power back in the day

Dawson Rental

Geez, even if MU were perennially in the the Big East's third quartile, we'd draw at least double that.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

May be because basketball is the only sober thing to do at MU.

I was at the home opener last Friday and I would say that it was pretty sparse and it wasn't much better on Sunday.

Maybe sparse compared to the Big East games, but I thought the crowds were pretty good for non-con cupcakes.

Canadian Dimes

regardless of how many butts were in the seats 13,000+ people saw it fit to purchase a ticket for those games.  in contrast, less than a 1/3 of that many people saw it fit to buy aticket for the cincy game, despite the fact that both programs have similar winning basketball traditons in similar sized cities.

I thought the crowd on both days sucked.

You can't ask for much more then a Friday night season opener and a Sunday game with the Packers on a bye. Even with that set-up, pockets of empty seats in the lower bowl (four or five in a row in some cases).

Was it the start for hunting season? Was it Holiday shopping? Is it still the economy? Certainly wasn't bad weather.

The lower bowl are all sold, it's just no-shows.

Not to mention the lower bowl of the student section wasn't full.

Even though the Pack had a bye, I suspect a good chunk of the students missing on Sunday were Illinois Bears fans who wanted to watch the Bears take it to Favre.

most kids were either sleeping or "studying" at 1pm on Sunday.  But Friday, there is no excuse for not attending.

Shanunu

The student section was packed on Friday night, although only from about 10 mins left in 1st half to 10 mins left in second half.
