"According to multiple sources, Texas stands to increase its TV revenue by $12 million per year thanks to an agreement reached with ESPN to distribute the Longhorn Network on cable systems beginning in the fall of 2011.

The sources said the deal is for 10 years and guarantees Texas $12 million annually on top of the TV revenue UT would receive as part of the Big 12's current television contracts with ABC/ESPN and Fox.

Texas is expected to earn roughly $17 million in 2011-12 and $20 million beginning in 2012-13 just from its portion of the Big 12 television money."

So what does this mean?  This gives A&M the cover they needed to do what they really wanted to do all along...join the SEC and get away from Texas.  And Oklahoma might just join them.

Texas' ugly little sister in College Station is going nowhere and neither is there developmentally challenged cousin in Norman.

Heh...just watch.  Might not happen immediately, but it will happen.

Interesting...     Will Texas continue to engorge itself at the expense of its fellow conference members?  If A&M and Okie do move on, will Texas get still greedier until the remainder of the Big 12 melts away?

Its beginning to look like Texas wants to move into independent status like ND, so it can ring its pudgy arms around the entire TV revenue pot.  If this happens, who will be there to play the Big East role and give Texas a home for its non-revenue sports?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Fox wanted this badly but not that bad....great for Texas but a loss leader for ESPN as I don't see how they can get to a positive ROI on this.  We were involved in the process early and bailed out.  I can't wait to read the details of the contract.

P.S. Everyone's cable and satellite bill just went up again even if you don't care about Texas
