I think these practices are great for the team.  It is a good thing that our current coach is generally well liked & respected throughout the game.

You can have scrimmages against DIII teams and sell tickets, etc.  But you cannot open these scrimmages against D1 schools to the public, keep score, or even have reporters present.

Sometimes the NCAA regulates simply for the sake of regulation.

I thought this was a strange rule as well.  Two possible reasons that come to mind is: 1) that by selling tickets to it the NCAA views it as a sneaky way to have yet another real revenue game (bring in more versus a Marathon Oil or DIII team); and/or 2) come tournament time people will be taking into consideration a "scrimmage" game that shouldn't be counted.

Scrimaging another school has a lot of value.  However, I got to wonder if that is a good time to have a recruit on an official visit. I assume he cannot attend the scrimage. He will probably end up hanging out with Wilson and Singleton, but there is a significant amount of time when he cannot be with the majority of the team and coaches. Seems to me to be an odd time to have an offical visit.

Assuming the statement that only the team's personnel from both schools is allowed at the scrimage, than Wilson being there is a violation.
