Some of my favorite quotes:

On his World Series pick:
"I really do not keep up with baseball - I love the #'s involved in it, but mentally it makes me nervous, because it is so slow."

"At some point, you have to determine, do you want to live a life for 'success' or for 'significance'."

On Gardner's weight loss:
"His body is not quite as overweight as you would think, and Todd/Ernest have done a great job with him thus far."

"Not sure if we will shoot as many 3's. We havent evolved to that yet in our workouts. Our workouts now, are probably not what you think. Our workouts now, are just toughman contests everyday."

How will this year's team be different from your first 2?:
"Hard to say - thus far. On paper - of the 13 kids on scholarship, they have 9 years of experience at this level. Last year, I think the # was 12 - My first year, it was 18 --- so that stat alone, helps justify why it is hard to answer that as of now."

On writing a book:
" I am trying to come to peace with it. I have done zero in my career, and have been blessed to be on this stage, as the steward of the program, so parts of me struggle with that. There are way more coaches who have done more than me, that have never gotten their chance.

Coach Buzz: I do appreciate my story, and understand how it could have a positive impact on some, but I never want it to come across as though I have arrived, or I have all the answers.
Friday September 17, 2010 11:16
Coach Buzz: I rarely am concerned with perception, more with reality, but when I am in charge of the perception (writing a book) , I want to make sure it comes across in the right manner."

Thought this was hilarious:

what has been the hardest transition that had to be made since losing Lazar?

Coach Buzz:  I miss him personally. We will adjust as a team - but I miss who he is as a person. Same with Cubi and Mo. I talk to those guys everyday. Cubi is thru email, but the other two either on the phone, in person, or thru texts.

How do you keep track of all those numbers in your head?

Coach Buzz:  because I am weirdo.

"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

I love how quirky Buzz is, and admittedly so. Reminds me of Al's famous quote: "When I was losing, they called me nuts. When I was winning they called me eccentric."

Thus far, Buzz is eccentric....and I like it.

GGGG

Agreed.  For a program like MU to stand out from the crowd, a little eccentricity (or nutiness) plus a little flash with the uniforms, goes a long way.

That is why I hope the Jumpman unis aren't just the same crap they do for their other schools, but something unique.

Isn't being 1 of 6 (I believe?) schools sponsored by Jordan pretty unique, especially considering there are 360ish division 1 basketball teams?

Not if the unis lose their unique look in the process.

Aren't the Jordan brand uniformss pretty much the same as most of the Nike Uniforms? At least the Nike Elite ones that Syracuse and Ohio State wear as well. I think  the only difference to the Jordan Brand jerseys from other Nike jerseys is the Jumpman logo. Although we have something most teams do not and that is Dwyane Wade who is one of the top athletes if not the top member of the Jordan brand. So I'm sure he will have a little say in the matter and could be a nice advocate between MU and Nike.

Some of that about planting seeds and growing stuff is very Chauncey Gardner.

Buzz for Prez 2012!!!
