*Remember, some kids from UWM beat some MU law school students in a pick-up game in 1904.

Oh lord.  Rich vs poor, over exposed vs underappreciated?  Give me a break.  I grew up in an affluent suburb and more kids from my HS went to UWM than Marquette and Madison combined.  But if you accumulate quotes from UWM blog posters, it has to be a prevailing sentiment nationally!

Uh, April...you lost that game 100-80.  And this "rivalry" has about as much tradition to it as the "memorabilia" hanging on the wall at the Bayshore Applebee's.

Clearly these guys are drinking too much Panther kool-aid.

To be fair to them though, what are they supposed to say? They want to be excited and proud of their school, so they are going to cling to whatever they can find. Every college kid does it.

If UWM students can paint MU as the bad guy (in their own mind), then they will do it.

What other choice do they have? What are they supposed to say/feel?

"We're a second rate team"
"We shouldn't care about our sports teams because nobody else does"
"We all just root for UW because we know our own team is going to suck"
