How sweet is the new Minnesota Twins field?  There's a picture from it in the new issue of Sports Illustrated and it looks ridiculous.

#31 on the list if you want to see the pic

But the entire post is worth reading, like just about everything from Posnanski.

It's wonderful.  I can't wait for the playoffs to get started.

I was a little worried about not having a roof and criticized it as being stupid as hell... but, I think we've had only one rainout.. and then another time when a game was partially complete and tied, ... so we finished up the game the next day before the regularly scheduled evening game.

The atmosphere before and after the games has also been great... much different than the Metrodome... still can't believe they fit the stadium in that little space, but they did and it's better than I expected.

That field does look pretty sweet.  One thing I did notice, however small it might be and never having been there, is that the backstop looks kind of plain on TV (like a cream brick or something).  I wonder if anybody else has noticed that.  Since that's the only thing the tv viewers see most of the time, I'm surprised they didn't make it more unique/appealing.  But, if that's the only complaint, compared to the thousands of things wrong with the Metrodome, then I think they must have done a pretty good job.

Went there in May for a game. Really, really nice park. I can see how the space constraints shaped it though. They went a lot more vertical, the sightlines from their upper deck aren't as good as other parks I've been to. But the area around it is awesome, those bars and restaurants have to be cleaning up.

Reading that article and seeing the secretariat cover brings back memories. Still one of the most incredible sporting events I've seen.

It's a great stadium and a great organization.  Not what I would call a "small market" organization by any stretch.
